I would also like to suggest that you could sell your (new) controller, and then buy a solid state, or a quieter manual controller. The manufacturer may even take it back for full credit if you buy a replacement from them.

I would like to add my own words of thanks to Brad, and to everyone on this forum. I am "addicted" to this site, and I faithfully read the posts a couple of times a day. I ordered the book, and that is wonderful as well. I have learned so very much over the past few months, and now have su...

Kathie, 24 years ago I was making a really, really good living in a 9-5 job, had a "dream houe", an 1855 farm house completely remodeled, with 9 acres, 2 barns, tractor and lots of toys. My wife and I had 2 and 1/3 children at the time we made our "mid-life crisis" move (actually...

Hey Bob! Why don't you write up an instruction booklet on making powder wafers with lots of photos. Something that you can email to people. I'm sure many of us on the board would be interested in purchasing it. Calgary is just too far for me to travel for a course (from Ottawa). Cheers, Suzan I sec...

  LOL!!! Thanks, I needed that.

No, I meant that the "veins" and "stem" made out of glass went down first, then the "leaf", also glass, was sifted over those?

Re: What is a powder wafer?

Here's another leaf example: http://www.izm.com/pond.htm Paul, The leaf in the pond is the powder wafer? (BTW, once again, every time I look at this peice I am just in awe. It really touches something deep in me) So if I read Brock correctly, you got a "pattern" of a leaf, sifted down a b...

Jerry, your use the the term "crater' made me smile, and also think back to one of my first attempts at getting rid of bubbles. I was fusing a square sheet of BE white, and for some odd reason it got about 5 bubbles in it. I said "oh, I'll just take it up to about 1600 and they'll pop. Wel...

Aztek 4709

Hi all! Happy Halloween! \:D/ I have just inherited, literally, an Aztek 4709 airbrush set in wood box. It has all of the bottles, and a short black plastic hose that connects to the brush, and supposedly to a compressor. On the compressor side of the hose is a large gray/grey plastic connector. Pro...

Molds

Is one source better than another for pre-made clay molds? I've used the usual: Alpine, WC, eBay, etc., but are/is there a more affordable supplier? Thanks.

Jack,
Wow! What a kiln!
I have a ton of questions if you don't mind:
Did you do all the welding, fabricating? Is the whole kiln ssteel?
Is the bell cage welded on? Are the elements custom or "off the shelf?"
How long did it take you?

Oh, yeah, nice "bomb shelter" too!! :D

Speaking of the Cutter's Mate, I read somewhere (wish I could remember where) that they are coming out with a strip cutter. Anyone else hear about this, or have any details? I do a lot of strip cutting, especially on textured dichro, and need something that does a good job with tiny strips--1/4&quo...
