I'm waiting too Dani, I've tried a few pot melts but haven't tried dropping it. I'll be interested to see what anyone has tried. I may get up enough nerve to try it myself.
Come on all you pot melters...SPEAK UP...

As far as your son is concerned...a long soak at about 1250 should be good enough to get the BUBBLE HEADED IDEAS out of him.

A good place to start would be with the Tutorials on this site. They are great and the best way to get a feel for what you are going to be doing. If you run into any problems, you've found the best place to ask. There's no such thing as a "Stupid Question", everyone here can be very helpfu...

My turn for a Pot Melt

I finally got brave and tried my own pot melt. I used some scrap Spectrum I had laying around, greens, blues, black baroque, clear/clearwhite baroque and a bit of yellow. It was very cool watching it drip down. All I could think of was getting a soft serve ice cream  Now I have a few questions....

Bartlett Controller..HELP

Well...here I am, I finally decided on a new kiln. I went over to Marty's at Centre DeVerre and picked up my new JenKen Oval 13. After a stressfull proceedure of unloading it and getting it into the shop, it's now all set up and ready to go. Up until now I have been using an older ceramic kiln with ...

Thanks everyone for your advise. I talked to Marty last night and I think I've decided to go with the Jen Ken. I like the idea of the window and he has one IN STOCK (quicker delivery) Now I just have to make room for it.
I can't WAIT

Jen Ken vs Skutt

I know this has been debated before but I have a few questions. I am trying to decide between Jen Ken - Oval 13 and Skutt GM 1414 The basic differences I can see are : Skutt is SLIGHTLY larger (1 1/2"wider, 1/2"d&h) the electrical draw is less on the Skutt (34.7amps vs 45amps) Skutt co...

great presentation Lisa, I'm a visual learner, you can explain and describe all you want sometimes but unless I can SEE it, sometimes I just don't get it.
Thank you SO much for posting this. New ideas are rolling around my head already.

I think we just had a thread that had alot of comments about Gryphon's. If you get one, make sure you get ALOT of extra guides, you'll need them. Personally, mine makes a great paperweight.

I've had bottles that want to roll from time to time and I just put a SMALL wedge of fiber board under the base, just big enough to stop the roll and not leave not big of an indent. If you are doing bottles with painted surfaces, you'll want to make sure you have SEVERAL layers of kiln wash on your ...

I bought what I THOUGHT was my dream saw when I got a gryphon and it turned out to be more like a NIGHTMARE. It chews through bottom guides faster then you can say, "I shoulda bought a Taurus". I'd rather work with designs that don't require a saw at all then bother with it. Good Lu...

geezz.....all you needed was for the electricity to go out again.
Stand up, walk outside, spin in a circle 3 times , jump twice and go back in, that should do the trick.
