I saw a product last night that was made to repair boards. It comes in a tube for a caulking gun. It was purchased from a supplier of items for boiler rooms and it said on it to repair the boards. I can get more info next week if needed.

There is a crafts council with branches in Dublin and Kilkenny. In Kilkenny there were a few studios/galleries to talk thru for all type of crafts. Near Kilkenny (which has a nice castle also) is Jerpoint Crystal. There is an outlet in town and they can give you directions and a brouchure about the ...

Second the waterford part. I will have to do some homework, but close to the ring of Kerry I found a Hot glass artist that used old green coke bottles for his batch or cullet. Everything he does is green, but that is ok since you are in Ireland. There also is another place, south of Dublin, before w...

Paul, It is interesting.. Since I started repairing the kilns I was told that most of the times the relays break in the open position and they will not work. But I have replaced more of them with the relays that are stuck closed and keep firing even when the controller is not telling it to fire. Eve...

tc = IS THERMOCOUPLE .. The thermocouple wire was disconnected. The flip holder on the orton can come loose and flip open and the wire come out. Then the message would be tc instead of a temp.

Ok, I need to explain something.. Brock understand but I got a few e-mails from others about what I wrote. What Brock was suggesting was to use the controller normally. In case there was a problem use a cone that would bend and trip the setter only if the temp got hotter and for a longer time. Hopef...

that is true.. but the top temp for a full fusing and top temp for a slump would be different, and the problem with this was that the slump went too hot.

Brock, I would think that the concern would be time. But if the concern is that a slump firing or tack firing gets to hot then each time there is a different type of firing the cone would be changed. Also, the installation would be harder since besides hooking up the electrical part a hole would be ...

You can add kilnsetter to your kiln. Basically you want the timer part added, where if you go over your estimated time for a firing it will shut it off. You will be basically be adding it on to one of your wires. but do you really think it is necesary.. If one of your relays breaks in the closed pos...

Which 3 key controller is it? Paragon sold 2. In the past it was the Bartlett board, now it is the Orton. I am a Paragon Certified repair person (That certificate and 10¢ still will not buy me a cup of coffee), but have the person drop me an e-mail with what the code is and then I can get them what...

I would forget the patch and just put a shelf over the hole. The patch is good to glue back parts of the brick in a whole. If you put a large glob of it, it will just eventually pop out. You must dig the glass out. The glass will erode out the brick. For future reference.. put kiln wash on the botto...

7 layers.. the problem might not be that you pulled it out, but that it was not annealed enough. You need to go very slow on the ramp up.... and if you question if the speed you want to go is slow enough it is not, go slower. There is a LARGE chance that it will crack on the way up if it was not ann...

The glass will keep eating away at the brick. Remove the glass before you patch the whole. The problem with the cement is the the brick and cement might expand at different rates. Unless the bottom of the kiln is showing when you remove the glass it might not need to be repaired. Can you put a shelf...
