Fusion HQ (see link above) has a quick-spray atomizer (mouth sprayer); the latest catalog I have says it's $8.50.

Lonman, I had this happen. I was able to get it to flatten out by re-firing, but it left a mark which was pretty obvious and not very attractive. I covered it up by sandblasting a design to obscure it, so you might try that if you don't like the looks of your piece after re-firing.

You only need the thinnest of coatings with vaseline...it doesn't need to be thick or gooey. Just touch your fingertip to the vaseline and wipe it over the mark. That way you can see through it and the residue comes off when you wipe the water off after you're done cutting/grinding. The Markstay stu...

Yes, chapstick works, or just a light coat of plain old vaseline!

I got a ferro pen from Fusion Headquarters (http://www.fusionheadquarters.com). They recommend firing on top or between layers to 1050-1150 degrees F.

Annealing Temps

Mira, I'd hate to think you've outgrown your kiln but I suspect that may be the case. According to Phil Teefy (welo-known and experienced fusing instructor and kiln builder), Bullseye glass 6-18" in diameter and 3/8" thick needs to cool at 60 degrees/hour thorough the annealing zone; 7/16&...

Morton System

Nadine, you might check with Cline Glass in Portland (http://www.clineglasscompany.com) or Northwest Art Glass in Redmond (http://www.nwartglass.com). Or contact the Morton Co. and ask for your nearest distributor. I seem to recall seeing a class at the upcoming Glass Craft Expo in Las Vegas (http:/...

turtle wax

Mira, I have used Turtle wax on copper-foiled projects with success, especially those with black patina (which is removed by simichrome, my favorite polish, no matter how sparingly it is applied). Use just a little wax to avoid that "ugly waxy build-up"; I rub it into my applicatior cloth,...

Don't know if this effect is what you are looking for, but the Winter 2003 issue of Glass Patterns Quarterly has an article about painting on fused glass with Art Clay Silver Overlay Paste; the sample in the article is a fused dichroic pendant.

How about using a circle of fiber paper in the bottom of the mold or drop-out to make a rim? (see Bullseye's kiln-carving tip sheet)
