I tried that, Rick, but there was barely enough room to wedge the piece in that space because the table doesn't go back very far. It just didn't feel safe that way.

Now that you remind me, I do have one of those. I tried it once and had trouble controlling it. Maybe it's worth re - visiting it, though. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yikes, I admire all of you for your efforts to grind glass disks on a flat lap. I've tried it on small pieces with suction cups and have had problems with the cup slipping loose. I use an angle grinder for flat surfaces - much easier!
