Re: Creating Deep Slump Reactive vessel
Les, what is the rim around the top of the mold? Was it the dam from fusing the blank? What is it's purpose during the slump? So interesting!

Re: 4 Seasons.... Break
I agree with Valerie. The piece is too well conceived and cheerful to not try to save. I think the added support a panel backing brings would make me feel more confident that it could withstand the stresses of an outdoor environment.

Beautiful piece! I particularly appreciate the fine work you've done with the tree branches. Very natural. And enlarging the photo reveals the subtle gradation of the underbrush. Nice work.

I love. love this vessel! The stone base is perfect for it too. I enjoyed seeing the photos of the layup and then being able to match them up with the finished product. Thank you so much for sharing the process.

A very striking design and well executed. A special achievement keeping the long red and white lines that angle across the plate so straight.

I love what you've done with texture and the rim is lovely. Are the darker lines done on a base piece under the textured area or is it an all-at-once thing? Very imaginative!

Oh that is yummy. The mid ground is so well done and the trees are very mesquite looking. You are getting way too good at branches! I may just have to visit and leave with an over sized suitcase!

What a resourceful person you are! I love the contrast of the organic look of the glass against the geometric metal behind it. Kudos!

What a cheerful scene to have in a kitchen. I would be interested in knowing how it is mounted. Is it over top of the stainless that is behind the cooktop or did you leave a space for it and add the stainless around it? You did a very nice job of matching up the separate tiles!

What a clever use of material. Understated, elegant, well executed. I'm thinking what a tough time I would have making everything line up and stay put. What is the narrow white stripe running along the dots?

It was so interesting to read your comments on the various designs that I have long admired (and coveted). Well done!

Beautiful! At first glance I thought the thistle was made of metal. Brilliant way to set off the muted color of the central area.

Really looking forward to seeing what comes of this. Not sure where you're going with the bubble block(s) but intrigued with the way you're attacking the challenge. Be sure to post a picture.

These are beautiful. Compared to your earlier works, which are equally but more starkly beautiful, these have more color and more aggressive attention to shading. Apples and oranges.

Re: How to mark a mold to aid in aligning blanks
Something like this would do it. Mark the mold and it should be permanent after firing. Is there a spot on the mold where you can see the mark OK but does not require kiln wash? Not sure whether you would be able to see it through a separator. http://www.bigceramicstore.com/tools-supplies/decorating...

Jen. The PDF I found for Liquin Original says flammable but if you've not had a problem then I'll give it a try. It has been a wonderful medium for oil painting by being open long enough for blending but ready for another layer the next day.

Has the flammable property of Liquin caused you any problems? As an aside - I love the odor of Liquin. It smells like happy times in the studio.
