Randy, Michaels has satin cord in their beading department in little packages. Very inexpensive. These also look nice on "neck rings" available at Firemountain Gems. Riogrande sells rubber cord with clasps at each end, as does http://www.ugotglass.com/findings.htm Cheryl, The bails are als...

I get pretty good results photgraphing the cabs on my light table, but with the light table turned off, and shooting through a hole in the bottom of a 5 quart ice cream bucket. I then have to do a little white balancing in Photoshop. http://www.clearwaterglass.com/images/Pendant_i.jpg Steve http://w...

Just walk away Dick....bad news I agree. But, if you're still interested, contact a few of the artists they represent, and see what kind of experiences they have had with the gallery. I have done that myself, and have found everyone I contacted willing to give me their opinion, (particularly if the...

Amy,

Here you are along with your work, in sharp focus. I forget what that bright red sculpture was called.

BECon/Legacy

Jackie, The meeting was incredibly interesting and informative. The Legacy exhibit was very nice, and of course, your piece generated much interest. Here are Doug and Avery marvelling at your work: http://www.clearwaterglass.com/BBPIX/JBL1.jpg And Brock, examining it more closely: http://www.clearwa...

Lisa, I absolutely love the way you have your work displayed with the sliding bar of thumbnails. Very elegant. Did you have someone else construct the site for you? I did find the small, gray, text kind of hard to read, and it took me a minute to figure out how to go to trays or sculpture once I was...

I hope it works. I my kiln, I would fire it to 1490 for about 15 min if I wanted the top design elements to blend into the piece. If I wanted to maintain a little 3D effect, I'd fire to 1480 for 10 min.

If the bubbles are between the layers, than it is because you have constructed your piece in such a way that you are trapping air between the pieces. Try putting the colored design elements on top of the other two layers instead of inbetween. Make sure that your two layers of clear are 3mm, not 1.5m...

Re: Sandblast prints, stack and fire?

I have been tackfusing two prefired 24x17x1/4" panels, adding frit detail. I will stack them, add a third, and fuse all three into one 3/4" panel. The middle layer shows fingerprints on the bottom surface (oh, careless me!), which will be quite obvious over the red background behind the f...

Agree with Brock and Lisa. Also, to cut the fiberpaper 1/8" thinner than you think that the finished piece will end up. ie, if you use enough glass so that you will end up with a 3/8" thick slab, cut a rim of fiber paper that stands on edge and is only 1/4" high. This should give you ...

I have only done this once, but learned quite a bit in the process. First, I would recommend making a 3mm thick circle the diameter you want for your finished piece. Then, grind the pot melt into a perfect circle. Then cut one or two rims (depending on the thickness of the melt) as in Patty Gray's t...

I agree with Charlie. I've been through this myself. I think, particularly with a large piece, that a shelf with a uneven surface or uneven internal density is most likely the culprit if the bubble is between the shelf and the glass. If that is where the bubble is next time try firing in thinfire pa...

Steve, have you done anything about the flimsy fence on the MK? It's really the weakest part of the saw, and always a problem for me. It seems that one set screw is not enough to hold that long flat aluminum bar in place, and even if it does, after a bit of use, you've actually made holes in the ba...

I agree with all that Phil has posted. I have the 7" HF saw. I got a nice MK blade and it cuts well. But, the mechanism that allows the table to slide sticks and makes using it very awkward. I even attached a zerk fitting and lubed it up with no avail. In frustration, I purchased the MK 100 - a...

Thanks Cynthia. Eileen knows that if her vine gets too agressive, it's toast! Right now it's only 4" high, so all is OK.
