Has anyone used Spectrum's black transparent 1009sf, I was wondering how transparent it is. I am designing a piece that would be back lit and I would like to have some black in it But I want to make sure it wont totally block out the light.

Tech super flex is probably the best product out there. They have regular thinset, full flex and super flex. Super flex cost the most but has the most give as it was designed for softer substrates which have more movement than wonder board.

Re: Alternate Frit Maker - any downsides?
I use an older Oasis machine, the ones used for making frozen drinks. First I heat the glass with my torch or in the kiln, drop it in water, let it dry and then blend. I found a link the other day on a unit you can build with a garbage disposal. Boyce Lundstrum who just recently passed away has this...

I also have the hp p 1006 and it works well I don't think they make this model any more but they have something new in the same price range. Check out the HP store on line, I paid $99.00 with free shipping.

I have an MK and it's a great work horse. You can use the blade that comes with it but when it's time for a new one I would do what Jim said and get a good glass blade.

Sorry, I can't see the picture when I am posting. This has been a good little work horse and Clay King are great to deal with, I liked the kiln and the company so much I bought my larger Olympic clam shell from them. If you are not a lampworker you don't need the bead door. The window is great to ke...

Re: Kiln Recommendation
I do cold work with recycled bottles. I am looking to expand into slumped bottles (possibly other types of recycled glass fusing - down the road), and investigating kilns for this. I know very little about kilns (other than what I have read on the internet - so I should be an expert right? :D ). I ...

You may not want to use this with the kids but a hot glue gun works great, A little dab will do you.

I like drilling my chimes. I do find it does change the sound and it does look more authentic. That is just my opinion, but I do sell a lot of them.

Enjoy your new toy Rachel. I have two Olympic kilns and love them. I hope you got the rtc 1000 controller, once you get to know it it's great to work with.
