And the way that artists change people's perception of the value of something is by educating them.

I've been pondering this all morning because the advice to price like-sized items the same makes no sense to me... Take it out of the realm of glass work and think about a woodworker. If s/he made a table out of pine that was the same size as a table made out of ebony, would they sell for the same p...

What brand of glass was it that you used? Some glass isn't compatible with itself, believe it or not. As for being healed, if the edges of the crack are rounded and seem to be flowing together, it means the glass cracked on the way up to your top temp. If the edges are sharp, it means the glass crac...

Re: Steel Blue and SuperSpray
I have a 15" round steel blue disk fired that matured into silver, which is what I wanted. I now have to put the design on top and fire that. I noticed some devit flakes in the silver and my question is if I use SuperSpray over this silver, will I lose any of the silver color? The silver does ...

Which side of the glass are you cutting on? Certain glasses are simply a nightmare to cut. When I did stained glass, I worked alot with Yough and had a terrible time getting straight cuts on certain color combinations. I suspect it's because of the differences of hardness or some other factor betwee...

Probably. The problem with these molds is that you have to fire them very slowly and can't vent the kiln or you risk breakage of the mold. I had a bunch of these and many of them broke for both of the reasons above. I wouldn't fire any of these things faster than 250F per hour and I wouldn't vent th...

I agree with Marty. A monthly fee is something I've not run into at a gallery before, unless it was a co-op. Perhaps they're trying to weed out the artists whose work isn't selling, but want to show it there anyway. A 40% commission is good in today's market. However, I'd pass on that monthly fee ar...

As Cynthia says, this will depend on your kiln and the glass you're using. I use BE and have a reasonably large custom-built kiln with top elements and no side elements. In my kiln, I can get a tack fuse at 1400 with a 5 minute hold. The edges are sometimes a bit sharper than I'd like, so I usually ...

Adjustable height tables from Sam's Club
Does anyone here use the adjustable height tables that you can get from Sam's Club? The closest store to me is in Texas apparently, so I can't go take a look at them in person. If you have any experience with them, I'd love to know tell if they're sturdy..like if a customer bumps into one of them, d...

Current Price of Silver and gold
Does anyone have a link to a site that provides today's silver and gold prices? I did a Google Search and didn't come up with anything.
