Re: Coe 96
Bullseye is cheaper in the long run because it sells faster. Don't believe me? Make two identical items with the 'same' colour and the Bullseye will sell first. The Bullseye piece side by side with the 96 will be the one picked up first by a customer. Why work with a harder to sell material? Yes 96...

Re: Texture / kiln carving
There is a cameo Silhouette version 2 coming out later this year. It allows you to cut larger projects.
Id say the price of cameo silhouette version 1 will drop considerably once version 2 is out.

Firing to high temperatures will shorten the lifespan of your elements.

The videos are great but they don't produce a lot of new videos over the next 12 month period.

Firing a double walled vessel
hello all, I would like to paint vitreous enamels onto double walled borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass has a high slumping temperature. That way I can use lead free or low lead enamels (I hope!) Do you think the double walled glass might explode in the kiln? That is, the air trapped between the...

Cynthia, how do you attach the palladium foil to the glass?Morganica wrote:
I sometimes use palladium leaf in the concealed parts of transparent castings, especially if they're against a wall or on a pedestal. The leaf will reflect just enough light to make the piece glow.

Thanks Cynthia.
I'm going to buy a glass cutting saw. Useful tool.
Its plaster + course silica + ceramic fibre + a big scoop of R&R910.

Overflow casting
Hello all.
I miscalculated the amount of glass to use (even though I was using the Archimedes bath tub method).
Anyway, now I have some overflowing glass.
The overflow is about 3 - 5 mm thick.
How do I trim the excess glass away?

Re: Venting my studio
I installed a sky window. Its like a sky light but it opens up. You open it using a hook on a long stick. It lets in light (essential for glass art!) and also air. Its very water tight. The only drawback is that you have to close it when it's raining...although you can leave it 1 - 2 inches open in ...

Re: paper between two sheets of glass
You could try putting kiln paper (eg bullseye thinfire) between 2 sheets of glass and fuse all that together.
I have no idea what might happen.

I'm steaming out the wax beforehand but there's always a tiny bit of wax residue.

Haydo, how big are these pieces? Any chance you could photograph one piece held in your hand to get a sense of scale?

Good luck Haydo.
I have noticed that its always the same finalist each year...every year! So if you can break into the Ranamok exclusive group that would be excellent.

Re: white microcrystalline wax
This is a very hard wax.
If you freeze it in the freezer you can get a really smooth finish by "sanding" it using those hard dark green scrubbing sponges.
