Re: BE Mold
If the mold is brand new and you haven't yet used it, perhaps considering returning it. Maybe it was just a fluke and it is a bad mold?
I know that the molds are not cheap and you want something with quality.

Re: Fusing Trouble with Confetti
Pink confetti almost always devitrifies when fired on top. You have to either use a devit spray or sift some clear powder on top before firing. Brad: Do you think if I shift clear powder on it now and re-fuse, it will rectify the problem? I am thinking either clear powder over all of it or a piece ...

Fusing Trouble with Confetti
Hi All: So branching out a little out of my normal cocoon of opals and stacked plates, I decided to do some work with confetti. I first made a test piece about 3x3 with two clear layers of Bullseye Tekta and I put green and pink confetti in between. Although I had few bubbles, I really liked the way...

Just started laughing when I read your comment starting with "the trouble with chads..." This being said by a Florida girl.
Very informative answers from you and Laurie. Thanks to both of you!

Re: Dams & strip construction
I am jumping in with a second question for those answering.
If we use strips of fiber paper around the dams, do we still need to kiln wash the actual dams?
Susan - thanks for letting me tag along onto the thread!

Re: deformed bowls
Brock: A very simple trick to ensure success when slumping into bowl forms, is to start inside the mold. Place your blank down from the rim a little bit and that places the blank under compression helping it to slump evenly. I have a question....do you mean that the glass should be smaller than the ...

Kiln Wash - Can I keep in Refrigerator?
Mixed up a mayonnaise jar of kiln wash (Bullseye) in late December. Jar (plastic) was clean and I have used jar for about the past year. Made about 3/4 of jar of kiln wash as I WAS going to kiln wash a bunch of shelves. Key word here is WAS. Life got in the way. Went to kiln wash today and ha...

Re: burn treatment
Pretty sure it's Silverdene too. We use it on our race horses when they get scraps and bruises and any kind of burns from the tack.
We get a big jar from our vet and we have used it ourselves (I get an annual Turkey Day burn every year).

And ya know....as Rosanna read it somewhere....if it's on the Internet, it's true. Abe Lincoln said that. I read it!

Back Of Plate - Lumpy & Dumpy
Hi All: So I made a nice stacked plate which I am happy with except for the back of it. (trying to load the pix here...although technically challanged). I did not fuse the plate myself, but left it at the studio where I volunteer in order to use some of their tools (strip cutter and tile saw). The b...

Re: Mezuzah mold?
Hi. I don't have an answer for you but in the same vein of the conversation, I just, last night, slumped a mezzuzaha I made free form over a stack of fiber paper. Instead of the mezzuzahs slumping over the fiber paper, it somehow "arched up". So I will be following this thread closely to s...
