Re: Dichro frit?

I've made my own and used it in a night sky piece. Even though it was only coated on the one side, I liked the dimension it gave with some of it reflecting brightly and some very subtly. So it may depend on what you are going to use it for. The ready made stuff is very expensive (and a bit garish fo...

Re: Pattern Bar Work - Annealing Advice

Where did you get your schedule? Schedule: 125>480>0 - Why 480°? 200>1150>30 - Why the change from 125° to 200°? 30 minutes is not nearly long enough for your thickness. 50>1240>30 - Why the slow down in your ramp up (50°)? Again, why the 1240° hold? 800>1450>10 - this should be AFAP (As Fast As Pos...

Re: It's Magtober...

I've watched this every year but have never participated. So now that I live in Glassland (as Morganica calls it) I think it's appropriate that I join. I will help too, just let me know what is needed. I am even (crazy enough) to say I'll do the 40 hr.+ (queen of the magless) sorting thing, especial...

Re: Adhesive for acrylic French cleats - update

Karuna, I'm sorry I did not reply to this post. I read it and then got side tracked. I too had a fail with GE Silicone a while ago and went back and sanded the areas to be glued and tried again. Using the same glue, but this time, in addition to sanding, I also applied the glue in lines, not coverin...

Re: Denver Kiln?

I have a Denver kiln for ten years now and still love it. It works great and I use it all the time. It cools down quite slowly. It has their standard controller on it, which is different from most others in that you must figure out your schedule in minutes rather then hours, so rather then put in 3 ...

Re: Why did my plate break?

I would not ramp up @300° per hour, you should go no more then 100° on the way up to 1150°.

Your schedule is too fast, you need to slow it down a lot.
