Re: which glue for pendants
Search the archives on "E6000", "Loctite" and "Epoxy" -- there is a ton of information in past threads. - Paul I think I read in here that Welders (industrial) had the best results for gluing bails to pendants. So which do I use? Welders or E6000? Thanks to all you pros...

open face casting in reusable clay mold
Any reason not to make a reusable clay mold for shallow, open face casting (no undercuts)?

Re: COE of non-tested BE?
I have a bunch of scrap BE that I'd like to use for fusing. Does the non-tested BE tend to be COE90, or is it more random? Specifically I'm looking at 0301 (pink opal) but also wondering in general. (I know, I should test it myself ... but the magless deadline is getting closer!) Thanks -- Marilyn ...

Re: How long do I hold at 1200 to ban bubbles?
To squeeze out bubbles I go from 1050F to 1250F @ 75F/hour. I then hold for 60 minutes at 1250F.Nancy wrote:I've been holding for 15 minutes.
How long to get rid of the tiny bubbles?
Thanks.
That is probably excessive -- but it has been 100% reliable for me.

Paul.. Speaking of toxic fumes, I recently bought several pieces of glavanized steel nipples for making cylindrical pattern bars, not knowing at the time that I should have bought black pipe. I'm thinking of firing them anyway, just venting well to clear out the zinc fumes. Do you know how hazardou...

We want to sign/engrave our name on our clear glass work. We want it to be very small but legible. Does anyone know of a great tool for performing this? Thank you. Sheryl A Dremel or Foredom tool with a diamond bit will work. Most stained glass stores also sell inexpensive engraving tools. The fast...

vermiculite is rumoured to be almost as bad as asbestos when it comes to dust control. it comes from the same mines and may have asbestos in it. i think you might want to encapsulate it before use. This is Skamol which I understand is asbestos free. But, I will look into it. Here's the MDS: http://...

These folks have some sign/shelf hardware that is probably adaptable for some projects:

Cookies -- myth vs. fact
FYI - I just found this website http://ecommerce.internet.com/ that has a lot of good generic info for small biz and e-commerce. It sends a lot of cookies though (I have them turned off so I have to click to accept in my browser because I'm kind of a privacy freak) Cookies only contain info the sit...

I have three shelves in the kiln stacked with about 8-10 inches apart. The kiln is side and bottom fired. Stacked shelves like that are going to require you to go exceptionally slowly since you want to keep heat even and you've got multiple layers of shelf between the top-most items and the bottom ...

Question for mud slingers
I've been trying to make some clay molds and I'm having a heck of a time just drying the things. Typically they are an inch or less thick (some are that thick because I'm intending to use the for low-relief casting). I'd appreciate advice on drying them -- I keep drying them -- or they sit almost co...

Hi Elizabeth! Have you actually tried this yourself? The reason I ask is, I was looking into using Art Clay Silver for the same purpose, to form it as a bezel and backing mount around a glass pendant and put the glass and clay silver back into the kiln. However, I looked through two different books...
