Re: glass I'm working on
Spectacular is the word! Your work is unlike any other and I'm impressed by the ever increasing degree of difficulty. I was waiting for a sun catcher photo but this is so much more satisfying!

I agree with Dana. Unconventional combination that is very effective. Thank you for sharing it.

Beautiful The first image looks like some raw opal I've seen. Yummy colors.

Re: Reduce/remove micro bubbles in full fused pieces
1500 seems a little high to me but don't know if that would make a difference. I use the sprinkled clear powder between the layers method (no chads needed with this) along with a low and slow schedule and no longer get the surface bumps. If you have a smooth surface - embrace the bubbles.

Is there a chance your shelf was stored in such a way that may have allowed it to warp slightly?

Re: Forest Floor #2
That is what I meant about the colors. By November the fallen aspen leaves no longer look like gold coins. The real thrill is being in a grove right before they drop. Almost like they are giving off light from within. I hope to see more of your castings posted here.

I love it! Great job on casting and F&F. You nailed the colors too. What method did you use to get the twig?

Re: Stand for Sconce
How about stabilizing it on a base of wood (or other material such as granite scrap) and placing one of those battery operated candles behind it. They give a nice soft glow or flicker like a candle. Nice look with no wiring or proximity to outlet required. one type: https://www.amazon.com/Homemory-R...

Re: New pieces
The Nautilus is my favorite. A repeated theme within the piece but each is different. The introduction of a variation in background color really bumps it up a notch. I wish I could see the shield shapes in person. I'm guessing there is a lot of depth that is not picked up by the camera. Lots of deli...

Re: Stand for Sconce
How do you want to display it? Will it have a light/candle behind it so it would be like a wall sconce but on a table top like a tea light would be? Maybe you are wanting to just display the glass on edge like the S curve molded glass. What type of thing you are looking for?

Re: Gauge required for metal backing.
Thanks Brad. Do you know about what thickness the metal backing should be in order to hold the glass panel? Similar to the attached photo.

I appreciate the answers to a problem I had but didn't know how to phrase as a question. My thanks to Smallbitz for asking! Since I don't know nuthin 'bout no rivets this has opened a new world for me.

I have come back a number of times to look at this piece. Each time it grew on me. It was not until I magnified the photos that I developed a full appreciation of what you have done. A closer look reveals how the murine bits embedded on the backside made very subtle interruptions on the flow of line...

Re: Attaching Glass Panel to Aluminum
Dana, Don't the rivets interfere with getting the glass to lie flat in the front side? I don't know much about rivets but assumed they would make some kind of "bump" on the other side of the metal. I've been wondering how I could use a wire to hang a metal backed glass panel because our li...

I really appreciate your attention to detail such as the smoke rising from the lava flow where it is encountering fresh vegetation on it's downward path. The closeup of the lava shows how realistic it's texture is. Don't know how you managed to get it so different from the apparent texture of the su...

Re: Working my way back to a passion
Sharol, I love this piece. The colors are warm and perfectly suited to the technique. The last picture appears to show the colors used in the mesh melt distributed on the underside of the creamy white color. Are my eyes lyin' to me again? BTW, your bowl is still the focal point in my living room. Vi...
