Cutting circles out of textured glass

I'm cutting slightly textured glass, but I can't keep the suction cup in place. It seems to be firmly in place at first, but about halfway around it pops loose. I'm cutting on the smoothest side of the glass, and I don't have any problems with this circle cutter on smooth glass. Any tips?

Re: How did this happen?

Thank you everyone for your help! I was able to remove the glass without heating it after all. This was my first (and possibly last) attempt using a fusing mold. From now on, I think I'll flat fuse first, even if the mold states it is for fusing.

How did this happen?

This was a full fuse on a swirl pattern "fusing mold". No air holes drilled (I had asked on the forum if it needed holes-answer was no). 96 glass with firing schedule: 200 1100 60/50 1250 60/full 1460 12/full 960 60/150 700 0 As you can see, several huge bubbles. Barely any little bubbles ...

How could I have prevented these bubbles?

This was a two layer full fuse with a little frit on top. 96 Coe, 11inches in diameter. I used the following firing schedule: 200 1150 45 200 1250 45 Full 1460 12 Full 960 1.15 150 700 0 I normally like bubbles in glass, but for this project I was hoping to avoid them. Thanks for your input!

Does this fusing mold need air holes?

I plan to full fuse on the kiln shelf first, then slump into this spiral mold. The website that sells it states that fusing can be done directly on the mold, but I'm a little apprehensive about trying it the first time. Should I drill holes, and how many?
Thanks for all the great advice!

Best to put frit between 2 layers or on top?

I want to use a green translucent base, a clear cap, and use black opal frit (medium) for some detail elements. Where is the best place for the frit? This will be a full fuse and later slumped.

Re: How do I minimize (or prevent) appearance of seams?

Thanks so much! Will definitely try thin dichro. What I'm using now is a mix of 1-3 mm. Sooooo much to learn for a newbie!

Re: How do I minimize (or prevent) appearance of seams?

Sorry, I don't know how to resize my photo to upload it. Yes, I am sandwiching the dichro between the two layers. I've tried placing the dichro on top, but then the fused piece is not smooth on top.

How do I minimize (or prevent) appearance of seams?

I'm trying to fuse a 96 Coe 10x10 black base, small dichroic pieces in the middle, and a clear top. If I don't have some seams for air to escape, I get large raised bubbles. I really don't want seams to be apparent in finished piece. Any suggestions? My firing schedule is: 250 1150 45 250 1250 45 Fu...

How the heck do I read the measurements on a circle cutter?

I've received my first circle cutter but it came with NO directions. I feel comfortable knowing how to actually cut the circle, but not how to set up the diameter for the cutting blade. The measurements on the arm are in mm, but the first marking is 6. It is then marked 7,8,9,10 and then repeats 1-9...
