It's always good to bring this subject up from time to time. Thanks Jackie. I have reciently received several e-mails asking me how I do my work. I personally am not ready to teach the technique I use. But, the technique is not really the emphasis of my work either. I believe that my work is more ab...

I have to agree here as well. I think an association will bring a kind of cohesion to our group. It will make us appear more professional. I will help in anyway I can in forming the group.

Thanks everyone for posting. I am not troubled with the reaction, or surprised really. I personally abuse the glass so much with my process that not much surprises (sp?) me. I just wanted to send the word out because I haven't ever seen anyone talk about this particular color combination on the boar...

I was reading "the thin white line" thread and thought I would pass a bit of information on. I'm not quite sure yet but it appears that there is a color reaction between BE Light Peach Cream and BE Spring green. The reaction color is a nice yellow which I found interesting because most of ...

That is my understanding. You have to send them an image a month before the work is due so they can put the catalog together. I asked if they do the photography, they replied that they don't quite have the budget that Pilchuck does so they ask the artists to have the images taken. I will let you kno...

Geri, I got the letter too. I have decided to donate a piece to the auction. I called them to find out where they got my name. They asked me if I'm a member of GAS, I said no but I had a piece in the Pilchuck auction. They said that's where they must have gotten it from. I also asked several other q...

You could also check Abarasive Technology. You want the plate bonded diamonds. I have a 70 and a 220. They are great.

Yeah, we've talked about doing that. I think she is just still getting information and that she is going to decide what to do soon.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks Tony. I told her that a 1.8cfm compressor was not big enough. The metals dept. apparently has the part on order that will fix the problem but it won't be at the school in time for the workshop. Well, they may have to make due with what they've got.

Pencil Blaster Questions

Hi Everyone, I am still trying to help the professor get the right equipment for the vitrograph workshop. She talked to the metals dept. about their sandblaster. It's not working right, it is said to have to run all the time or else it doesn't shut down. This is what I know about the system. It's a ...

hahahahaha, NO! I don't want to teach college level, too much politics... I'm doing the TA for purely selfish reasons. I haven't ever done vitrographs and here is an opportunity. I also really like the professor I'm dealing with. Because of her, I almost changed majors in my last semester of school....

Thanks everyone, The students will be etching 1/4" float. They just need to be able to get a tooth on the glass so it will hold the ink. I did some expiaments yesterday with 10 minute incraments with Armour Etch, and using different size grit in a slurry. That gave me a whole different kind of ...

Good Morning Everyone, I am TAing a Vitrograph workshop in about a week, in the printmaking dept. at UW-M. The guest artist has neglected to give the professor a list of materials and places to get them. So, the professor has asked me to help her find some of the stuff. I called Pilchuck the other d...
