I am probably butting in here but I just read this thread for the first time. This could be a random thought and probably isn't related at all but here it goes. Could there be a connection between the color saturation with red and a black and white photograph of something red reading grey? Amy Hopfu...

Why can't you put the paint on in the last fuse firing?

Are you using the oil base PP, or the powders?

I use Kerodex 71. It's a wax base cream that you set with cold water creating a bearier. I have to be careful though because my hands are slick and I have to hold the glass tighter.

I just did this the other day and I didn't need any mortar. I have different kilns than yours so not sure.

The bricks in the lid and floor are mortared together but not the walls. The walls are held together with a steel strap to make rings.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I can't really comment on good or bad teachers that I've had. I certainly have had a range. As a student looking to take some classes or workshops I usually go through a screening of who I might want to learn from. First, I look at their work, this is really important for me. If I think their work s...

Hi Delores, I've had the catherdral strike to opal (red). I'm using BE. Once it has striken it doesn't really continue to shift, but my work only goes through one high fire. That is the only color I use that does this. Last Oct. @ SOFA I had a conversation with Miriam DiFiore about red frit. Keep in...

Some people use kiln wash, some people use fiber paper. It's and experience thing and really depends on if you are using opals or catherdrals and if you have a sand blaster.

The tool is called Felisetti. I probabaly spelled it wrong. I just bought one but haven't used it yet. Phil Hoppes has one too and he has done some great work with it in addition to Doug.

PS. Be sure to order the 4" flexable backing plate.
