Thanks Jackie. This piece has been a launching point for me to explore some of the elements of 3 D art. I have about 5 sculptures in my head that i want to do this year. I have to get crackin'! hahahaha

Yeah I know what you mean. Stone is the same way, you need to pick the right piece of stone that has just the right amount of color and texture. I've also tried to work with wood. I plained down some of the old growth joists from my house. Beautiful doug fir, wonderful grain and color, but it just d...

Yes Ron, I'm doing them myself. I use brass rod/stock and sliver solder them together with an oxy/acytlene torch. Then I paint them; I've tried to powder coat them but I need a part to increase the voltage so the powder gets into all the corners better. So regular spray paint is it for now.

Yeah probably. Why risk it or I guess plan on going blind...

I looked at my high fire once and couldn't see anything, so now I never look at it until I pull it out of the kiln. It's not like you can do anything about the outcome anyway.

Actually the piece I'm going to photograph tomorrow is a re-mount of one that's on my site. "Covenant between the Coral and the Sea" I think it's much more successful now. It's mounted on a big piece of Jade. That happens alot with me, I re-mount stuff and cut stuff up to make different pi...

Sounds like the best way to learn. Wonderful. It sounds like there really aren't any words to describe the kind of environment Pilchuck is, just a thing you have to experience to understand. Hope some day I will be able to go. Gonna apply for scholarships but not holding my breath.

Thanks, that piece has spawned a whole new series. The next one is about half done, just like about 10 other pieces in my studio. hahaha Some pieces just need to rest until they feel like being finished, ya know?

As for titles, ha, I like to make words up.

I think it has more to with the difference in viscocity between the colors than bubbles, which I do believe play a part as well.

I have found that a dry wall saw works the best. Then I just smooth the edge down with my hand.

The rb/gs changes color not after firing but in different kinds of light. It turns green in flourecent light and pink in natural light. So when there is a combination of light you can get the whole effect.

Oh I totally agree with you on the tests. BE's french vanilla has sulfur in it that reacts with the silver, I think anyway. Well as for my results that I want, I don't really know yet. It's kinda an intuition thing. Right now I'm pretty close to what I want with sliver leaf but thought that it would...
