Re: Frit Maker

garbage disposal works for me. Depends on the size of the frit you want, and you do have to wash it but it's a heck of a lot faster than the quench method.

Re: Menorah candle cups

1. get the cups first. Weiss is a good source. There aren't that many that I've found. 2. THEN figure out how to attach. Without the cups, you won't know if they've got a hole or not. Threaded rods are just screws without tops. You can buy them at Home Depot in the bin with the long metal stuff. Som...

Art 101 Gallery in Wooster/Medina Ohio?

I was just contacted by this gallery. After checking out their web site, they appear to have 1 glass artist who does not have a web site. Has anyone dealt with or heard of these folks? They sound a little scammy to me...
thanks!

Re: how to flatten and fp pot melt

Flattening takes a much hotter temperature than firepolishing. If you want to flatten and not lose the rectangular shape, use a dam. If you do that, the top will be firepolished but not the sides (where they're touching the dam.

Re: Pressing glass into a mold?

check out www.fusedglass.org and take a look at Paul Tarlow's process for Kiln-Pressed Glass. Could be just the ticket for getting the maximum purple out of that glass!

Don't hesitate to re-use your shattered pieces in new melts/pieces. That's part of the joy of fusing!

interesting...

I went thru a one-day critique recently with Steve Klein and asked that very question - about adding almost a border (like a quilt) between the work and the frame. Folks said no, but I'm still tinkering with the idea. Interesting that you brought it up.

me 2

Just got the most recent GAS newsletter, reading the conference stuff, even the pre & post workshops are 99% blowing. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: we need a group.

Besides, couldn't we require all members to buy a calendar? It's definitely a collector's item ;)
