valerie, it does look like a fairly decent saw, i do have the mk 101 pro since when i bought it i was averaging 5-6 hrs a week on the saw and more at times. the blade i use the most is mk diamond's 303 professional with a .032 kerf. i think mine are 8" blades, if this will fit on your saw it's ...

the taurus 3 is a great machine. the standard blade works well for cutting either 3mm or 2mm sheet into shapes prior to fusing. if you need to cut thicker pieces after firing layers together the speed blade is best.

the only time i've done extra holds on the way up/down is when i've included copper tubing for channels and then it's in the fire polish firing to avoid cracks around the tubing area. otherwise, i never had a need to stop and hold on the way up to 1100...

i went to lowes and got a fountain pump that ran about $50 or so, one of the high powered pumps, put that in a bucket with clean water from a hose feeding into the blade and it's fine. i do a lot of production cutting and have no problem.

i forgot to mention that i found turning off the other lights in the photo area made a big difference - the area where i do my photos has track lights with regular incandescent bulbs overhead and with those on plus the photo lights i could never get the silver chain to really look silver or my color...
