Since glass shrinks more than ceramic bisque upon cooling I am concerned that if you slump glass over the face part of your bisque mold and allow the glass to go over the edge of your mold you run a very real risk of locking the glass onto the mold or having the glass crack as it coolsBest wishes, ...

Re: Returns
I've been in the glass business since 1992. For the first time, I've come across a customer who wants to return something they purchased from me at a show last weeked. There is no problem with the work. He said there was (even though there isn't) and so I offered to exchange it, but he refused the ...

I use two types of wire around the core mould , I start by wrapping galvanized bird wire around the mould this is held in place with 2mm copper wire finally covered with the outer mould mix...Colin one shouldn't use galvanized anything in a kiln. it produces both deadly gases, and probably does dam...

Why is it necessary to take the pot out? Haven't tryed a pot melt yet and don't like reaching into a hot kiln if I don't have to. It is very awkward in gloves that are way too big .....can't find any to fit. :( Pot melts are a bit like crucible casting ...and with casting I always remove the crucib...

Hi Colin I'm using gabbert cullet glass (not lead) ruby red. I believe the glass will start flowing at about 1600F-1650F. Just not sure how fast to heat it up from the 900F mark. Suzanne Hello Suzanne I just can't get the hang of Fahrenheit.. but at the end of the day it's heat worked and as all ki...
