Re: My first big break! But not the good kind. What happened

NO shame at all. It is a work in progress and so very much to learn to finally understand all the things that happen in different kilns and different set ups.( kiln shelves out of Mullite will react differently to fiber board shelves) I am not with the thought of holding every 250. A longer gradual ...

Re: Uroboros Residency

http://www.canadahouse.com/dynamic/artwork_display.asp?ArtworkID=29723 No , I slumped sliced colour bar pieces over an older Mold Mix 6 large leaf mold. Slumped and fused at same time which gave the twigs an interesting look. You cannot see them very well in this pic. I will fuse them first next tim...

Re: making consistant small oval cabs

Make a fused panel of glass the thickness you want. Get it water jet cut . It is PERFECT and will fit into any silver form or setting. Fire Polish if you desire it as well.

Creating a new birds nest. I had alot of fun with this 22 inch piece. NOW with a major thunder and lightening storm rolling through the Rockies here, I can only pray the power stays on long enough to finish slump into deep nesting shape. Ughgh!

Re: Uroboros Residency

I created a birds nest and worked with a good friend to make a metal birds nest base for the piece. The reactive quality looks as if the birds have lived in the nest for along time.

Still not professional pic but at least we can see them all in a line and how they relate to one another.

What is the design like. Could you grind a lovely hole in the piece and insert a really wonderful design element in it so it is perhaps almost sculptural in nature. Just a thought.

Re: Uroboros Residency

Thankyou sooooo very kindly. I love to create large moving color bars and then try to use them to almost paint with glass. I do want to control the sky just alittle more , mind you we are in for the wildest thunder storms here in B.C. in along time so perhaps I should just let the glass speak. Leslie

Re: Uroboros Residency

I have lots of visuals of mountains and skys for reference while setting up the color bars . Once sliced, then I will carve the slices to look like mountains.

Many layers are cut on top of the slices . If I want the pieces to be clearer as apposed to lots of tiny bubbles with the frit, then you must cut individual clear pieces and then join it all with frit and powders.
