Re: devit more likely with spring green?

Thanks for info but i don't want to use any harsh chemicals, especially as my workspace is in my house and not outdoors.

Follow in devit question! Help with program please

Hi, Further to my previous post. I am having problems with devit on sky blue and spring green transparant glass, it shows up more on the the green I believe as I back with white which illuminates the glass (and the problem). When I fire on my bubble squeeze program the glass has no bubbles but devit...

Re: devit more likely with spring green?

Sorry for misinformation - I went back and had a better look at the glass today. The green has noticeably more 'scum' on the surface, but if I look carefully at the blue it has devit too. I think the brightness of the green just shows it more...a lot more. The next batch should be ok as I am not usi...

devit more likely with spring green?

I have a quick question. A while ago I made a load of coasters. I use a long bubble squeeze. I know that holding too long at certain temperatures can cause devit. My question is the sky blue came out fine, but the spring green was covered in devit. Is the green more prone to devit? Both colours were...

Re: Light box for display

Alternately, put the current partner on eBay and look for a wood-worker. :D Jen Good idea, but he does pay the rent  I could have a go at making one, but woodwork isn't my strong point. I have seen some affordable (I wouldn't say cheap) lightboxes advertised for example this one designed for ...

Re: Light box for display

that's really funny, I never would have noticed that!

I did think some people would think that I was boasting about my bedroom antics "animal lover", but it actually means "animal lover" (fond of all things furry) :D

Light box for display

Hi, I was thinking of buying a light box (or a few even) to display glass bowls, plates and suncatchers at fairs. I see over in the US there are plenty of options for displaying glass, but here in the UK I can't find much. Has anyone used the cheapish lightboxes to display their work? have you any p...

Re: Shock from kiln

Wow, I really have stirred up some electrical debate! Thanks everyone for your electrical input...Sorry I started a conversation, then got ill and haven't had time to look and respond. After all that I think that Rick is right, it was just a very sharp static shock as I got similar yesterday with a ...

Shock from kiln

I have had my hotstart kiln for a few years. Today I shuffled over to it in my slippers, bent down and got quite a shock (to my head!) from the kiln catch. Could this be a static shock? I unplugged the kiln, then touched it again but didn't get a shock. I also noticed when I plugged the kiln in a fe...

Re: Pawprints

Lovely pictures! I bet your wife feels like royalty when she is being towed! Yes, Bonnie had a very cute nose :) That pictures shows her looking a bit pissy, I think she was bored of having her picture taken. She spent most of her life on the settee or on our bed. I also have a skutt kiln, hotstart ...

Re: Pawprints

Thanks, sorry to here about your dog too Mike. It's too late for me to do this for my dog - so I am doing for a friend. It's something I have often thought of doing. I have some wonderful photos of my dog - perhaps hundreds in fact! Here is one my son took some time ago thumbnail.jpg So if I bought ...

Re: Pawprints

Thanks. It is hard, I knew this moment would have to come, but I still wasn't ready for it... We were together most of the time as I mainly work from home- she used to make me laugh as when my other half got up early to go to work she would nip in the bed under the covers and I'd wake up with a funn...

Pawprints

Hi, My old doggy died over the weekend - I am devastated :-( She used to come with me everywhere, I am lost without her. I was thinking how lovely it would have been (too late now) to have had a paw print captured in glass. I've looked on the internet but can't find info on this. I envisage a paw pr...

acid etching dichroic

I'd like to have a go at acid etching dichro (for pendants, accents on plates etc).
I can't find any info on this, can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'd like to have a go at etching silhouettes, but don't know where to start!

Thanks.
