I heard through the grapevine that the website is now up, but there's no
information about who's putting it on.

I believe it's a first year show. That alone would be enough to keep me away. LOL.

If you find out more, please post it.

ROTFLMAO.

Yes. Call me almost anything, but don't call me a crafter or a vendor. And never refer to my work as "wares".

Re: biting my tongue...

Thanks, Geri (and Kitty and Els). I guess I just needed to vent a little. BTW, the show application says, "All work must be original and completely finished. No imports, kits, items made from kits, items made using commercial patterns or commercial molds, items assembled from pre-manufactured ...

I solved by bubble problem by buying the kiln shelves made by BE. They are made out of something other than the kiln shelves made by other mfg. Since I started using them, I haven't gotten a single bubble.

Re: biting my tongue...

I went to a professional-level craft show yesterday as a shopper, and also to check it out as a show I might want to do someday as I expand my business. I enjoyed most of the work, but having a background in jewelry and glass fusing, I found myself being more critical of the work I saw in those cat...

See-Through Concrete

I saw this link on the CraftWeb board to a new product... a sort of see-through concrete that can be used in buildings. The possibilities are endless. Amazing!

Someone is getting tricky with viruses

Someone is getting very tricky with viruses. Here's the scam and a warning... I just got an email message from management@comstockartglass.com saying that they were warning me that my system might have been infected with viruses and I should click on a file attached to the message to read an explana...

Since no one has responded yet, you might want to take a look at the memberlist by clicking on the button and looking at it by location. I saw about 8 or so people who report their location as being in Phoenix. Sort descending by location. I think they were on page 8 or 9.

Good luck!

There's a typo in the name which is why it wouldn't display for you.

Thank you everyone for your input/experience with this museum. I'm still considering whether to make a contribution. As artists, we often asked to contribute work to various causes. Marty gets some of the funnier requests I've heard...I'm glad I'm not famous enough to get requests like some he's pos...

I'm an idiot. For whatever reasons my browser keeps opening up this page at the oldest posts. So here I am merrily answering questions posted a year ago. Thanks Cynthia for being polite. I'll try to figure it out, or being more observant, or keep answering old questions. :? Bare, bear? with ...

Thanks Geri, No I have never tried pickling, (Acid bath?) Did not have a clue about keeping the gold clean. I do have a dremel with a flexshaft at the moment the piece between the shaft and tool is gone and because its older may be hard to find I looked on the Dremel site and it wasn't clear what I...

Heh. Well I've never juried to put anything in the Pichuk Auction, nor am I a member of GAS. Still wonder how they got my name.

Anyway, thanks for looking into it, Amy.

Re: gold wire for pendants?

Some of my dichro pendants would look better with a gold bail. I've tried 14 K gold wire between layers, it held up for the firing (unlike sterling silver wire) but became so black I can't seem to get it clean. A local jewler suggested a higher 22 K gold. Has anyone tried that? Another suggestion w...

Suzan - This is of no help to you, but it's somehow comforting to know the US isn't the only place that makes it kind of challenging to figure out what tax category we self-employed glassies belong in.

Hope someone has an answer for you.

I like to wrap work that's been purchased in bubblepack. Its bouncy nature minimizes the risk that it may be accidentally broken as someone continues their shopping.

Thanks for volunteering. The auction isn't until October 8-10, but they're looking for donations now. I was also puzzled by their connection between glass, fighting social injustice and their establishment of the museum in the memory of 1000 firefighters, etc. who lost their lives in 9/11... If/when...
