Re: Alternate Frit Maker - any downsides?

Did you try to free it by counter rotating the Cutters with an allen wrench?

Re: Advice on tile saws

I would get the MK or a comparable 10" circular saw with the best blade you can afford.

Re: Grinding marks from wet tile cutter

I always sandblast anything that has been sawed..it will remove the marks and any residue left from the saw.

Re: Vitrigraph modification

If the hole in the kiln bottom or board is too narrow, the glass will exit the pot and stick to the side of the hole, capturing debris as it goes. If it's too big, the glass at the exit hole of the pot stays too cool - then I use a MAPP torch to get it flowing again. You can also use a layer of thi...

Vitrigraph modification

I have a Skutt HotStart kiln that it seems I should be able to use as a Vitrigraph kiln. I' dont see why I cannot elevate this kiln and use a Hole-saw to drill a 2-3" hole in the bottom...viola! Am I missing something? Could I do this and then use an old piece of mullite to cover it when i want...

Re: Scrap Tekta

Lots of good ideas..I'm thinking the potmelt route may be the way to go...perhaps potmelt, then press the resulting blank, although so many firings would probably screw the glass up anyway. I've been cutting out large quantities of spoonrest and te resulting scrap has an interesting shape, which I h...

Re: Lower Fire Combing Schedule?

I have had good results using the clay saucers that you get for your clay pots to use as a vessel to comb in...seems to work and gives you a round or rectangular shape. but 1500 is too low

Scrap Tekta

I have a huge quantity of clear scrap...just wondering if anyone has had experience melting back to sheets? Was thinking of pressing it down to 3/8". Just wondering if anyone else has tried this and if its worth the effort.

Re: Advice on wet tile saws, Gemini Apollo?

First I would check with HIS Glassworks(see above) If the MK was chopping up your glass it was in all likelyhood the Blade. From what I have been able to discern the MK100 is the Gold Standard by which the other saws are judged. Although i have heard of good results with the 10" tile saw that H...

Re: Problem with Slump

I appreciate the input..needless to say that I will not be pairing these glasses in this way again.Did a similar bowl with orange and fuschia and it worked fine, so I'll assume that the red and the white just dont get along.
