Re: Drill bit opinions?
I was unable to use a regular drill for a diamond hole saw bit. It just wanted to skitter about and was virtually impossible (for me) to control. The drill press was the only thing that worked for me. The 'tilt first and stand upright' maneuver works fine for a dremel. But that's when using small 2m...

Re: Drill bit opinions?
I have made some hanging lights from glass draped over the vase mold. The lights were from raked glass so they were fairly thick (6-7mm). If you drill them first and then slump, the hole does get larger (and mine went a little off center). I decided on the second lamp to drill after slumping so I co...

Re: Drill bit opinions?
I have a regular drill press and have also used the LAU bits you can get on Ebay. They work very well and I bought multiple sizes because they were so inexpensive. They were strong enough to drill through some fairly thick fused glass as well as porcelain tile. The cut glass does get wedged up in th...

Re: dichro problems - Wrong glass cleaner
A few years back I contacted CBS directly about some Dichro I had bought from my supplier. It was patterned dichro and the pattern did not survive the fusing and looked like mud. They sent me a replacement piece. I provided pictures in my email.

The grinder is mentioned in the description. It is on the shelf in the background of the second pic.

Wizard Grinder Bearing going
Pretty sure a bearing is going in my grinder. It's out of warranty and I'm going to get another (it's about 8 years old) but was wondering if anyone has ever attempted to refurbish the motor themselves?

What warmglass.com is to fusing - lampworketc.com is to working with the torch. Everything you want and need to know is there. You'll then be able to decide what's best for you. Happy torching!

Re: dichro problems - Wrong glass cleaner
I only use coe 90. I generally just clean my glass with water and dry with a paper towel (and make sure no visible spots or imperfections or lint) before firing. Never had a problem. 9 years doing this (and that includes a lot of dichro). My guess it's as you suspect - your cleaner. The only glass c...

Re: HELP - Picking the right kiln
I have 2 Evenheats - an 18-9 with a Set-Pro Controller and a bathtub with an old Rampmaster. I have no complaints and they both work fine. Digital controller is a must.

What do you use to cover your cutting table?????
I'm real high tech. I use large newspaper. About 4 or 5 sheets stacked for a little cushion. It's easy to get all the little shards quickly out of your way by picking up the front corners and dumping towards the middle. To clean the entire surface, pick up both sides, gently fold and funnel glass in...
