Re: Taking credit cards

I copied a post from May 11th on this subject. Sorry, I don't know who posted it. The message is quoted below: "...This problem has bothered me for about two years...only having 2-3 small shows each year, I didn't want to pay minimums and statement fees. I tried my local banks, without luck. A...

Re: Nice job!

Very nice melt! If you can drill out the bubbles, or sandblast, then refire with a small piece of clear frit at the site of the bubbles, you may be able to minimize their appearance. I found that the back side of the melt can have a very interesting and different appearance also. http://www.clearwa...

Be sure and find out the specifications of using someone else's cc set-up or sharing a cc service. There are very specific rules against certain actions and stiff penalties if you get caught. It sounds terrible, doesn't it?? The way it was explained to me by one provider.... I would lose every cred...

Re: credit card conundrum

Hi Claudia - Timely post for me. This problem has bothered me for about two years...only having 2-3 small shows each year, I didn't want to pay minimums and statement fees. I tried my local banks, without luck. An artist friend recommended Discover business (you can accept visa and MC , too). No fe...

Thanks everyone for the info on credit card machines. I will check with some local artist and see who they use. Some are in the same boat as me. I will talk to the local bank and see what they have to offer. Where I sell mostly with galleries I will look into how many shows I will do a year. Terry t...

Re: Credit Card Machine

Claudia I only do a few shows a year and have a credit card account. Most of my buyers use their cards. I use a manual machine at the show and take names and phone numbers. When I get home, I punch the numbers in to the digital machine. Only once did a card not go through and then, I called the pers...

Credit Card Machine

Those of you that use credit card machines at shows, would you share the options and your choices and why. I have been hearing about monthly fees and/or minimum sales. There seems to be different percentages charged and may have hidden costs. Any help in sorting this out would be appreciated. I only...

Randy, Sounds like you are ready to fire. As long as you have a pryometer you can as you say watch the temp and shut off when there. I fire with a ceramic kiln, using a pryometer. You will have to set your pryometer. Place a cone 019 in a clay wad at a slight angle. When the cone bends, but before i...

 Randy,
Thank you so much for sharing. I really have been enjoying your posts. I have not tired a pot melt. They look like a lot of fun, and I like the results. Have you slumped these into a mold yet. If so how did that go. What thickness do they end up? .......Claudia

I live in Montana, not the hotspot for glass that some parts of the country are. So, I sell at street fairs around the state where I can command fair prices and am going to try my first out-of-state show in August (if I get juried in). I tried a wholesale show in Seattle in January. I learned a few...

Amy,
How are you using water with this? I quess what I am asking is this is a electrial grinder with no water feed of its own. How do you contain the water, if it flies all over like Tony suggested?
I am just having a mental block on visualizing this.....Claudia

Thanks Bert!

Bert, that helped alot, I will need to get together with Bob and see what he had in mind and what he understands about all of this. I was thinking about my own home first. I wanted to take the bullseye sconce and have Bob do the decorative iron work, which would be in front of the glass. I thought t...

Q-Bert-Commercial Brackets?

Bert,

I want to know if I have this right. If I build my own hardware I need to get a UL listing. However, if I buy commercial ones, I am okay. I am planning on working with a local blacksmith this coming year.
Thanks....Claudia

Ron, I too see a carousel, the colors are a lot of what I have seen on them. You just continue to
to amaze, me with your talent and perfection. I love the bottom of it ,it adds so much.
Good Job!!...Claudia
