Wax Vac, no its not what you think!

Have you all heard of the wax vac? It's a little vacuum that you can suck up small amounts of powder and then retrieve it. This art is by the talented artist Linda Humphrey. You can get these for under 10.00. 1655318_424022251062458_1123895454_n.jpg https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lindas-Fused-Glass-...

Re: Bear Facts

I just wanted to thank you les, and Brad (for the board) this information is invaluable!

I didn't even own anything (glass related) when this particular post was written. I was turning bowls - I just wish I could trade my wood lathe for a glass one!

Thanks!!!!

Re: workshops in Los Angeles

I drive up yo Hollander glass and they share a parking lot with a fusing glass shop. I know they teach at both places. It's just blocks from Disneyland . I'm sorry I don't know the name of the shop. But if you call Hollander I'm sure they will tell you. 10579 Dale Ave # 111, Stanton, CA (714) 761-5501

Re: New

My first kiln was a hotstart pro and is considered a workhorse and I have added a calandra for pulling rods and firing gold . I have added clam shell which makes combing glass and manipulating glass easier..however that can be done in the hotstart. I highly recommend the HotStart Pro which gives you...

Re: Shelf wash or paper?

Hi Jeanne, I tried your suggestion this afternoon as I am not crazy about the fine lines that the haike brush leaves on the shelf, and it nearly removed all the KW ( #-o ). I used 1500 grit paper, and I thought that I was applying very light pressure... Your two cents would be much appreciated! Luci...

Re: Shelf wash or paper?

Karen, That kiln is a 240v so you'll need the proper wiring. When I had it done by an electrician it was about 80.00. As for kiln wash, a new kiln you'll want to kiln wash the floor (don't get any on the elements) every so often. You can use kiln paper on the shelf and you'll need kiln wash or a bor...

Well, I'm just flattered by you! I truly am! If it wasn't for Brad Walker and Laurie Sprays help and advice online via messages after that hump..I was dazed and confused! How did it happen! BE's sound mold to boot! A good schedule too! It was the first complicated bowl I tried and really wasn't that...

Re: big bubble at base of bowl

A couple of months ago I tried my first large bowl and and it had a huge hump after slumping in a bullseye mold- Brad and laurie helped me figure out what the the problem was. NO hole in the center of the mold seemed like the cause.. My first schedule was image.jpg 130-800-15 100-1200-30 9999-950-60...

Re: PC monitor as light box for photos

[/attachment] Matte Plate 4869SQ.jpg I bought a varitone backdrop from phototech when i made my first rod bowl. I used a sunny room and taped the screen on the wall and draped it on a table. I do have lights - i think the trick is to use a long exposure and a tripod for the camera. I realize this bo...
