Personally...

I think it's ridiculous that Gecko is introducing a third COE to the fusing world. It's not like BE, Uroboros or Spectrum has an exhaustive inventory of colors -- why not contribute to the world by developing new colors for an existing line??

do you have specific questions?

If you're lampworking with the same COE glass as you're using to fuse, go for it. There's nothing to know. You can fuse anything together - make bits & bobs at the torch, pile them on/under your sheet glass and/or frit, stringer, etc. No holds barred.

Try Morton

If you don't already have it, you might want to invest in a Morton system. It's a grid with rulers & markers that allow you to, essentially, set up a "jig" so you can make many cuts that are exactly the same. Your local stained glass store will have one. There are other systems - Morto...

sure!

There's lots of info in the archives about what firing schedule to use when you're working with a ceramic kiln. I would try searching for "ceramic kiln" and "firing." Second, I'm not sure what kit you've gotten, but there is lots of beginner level info now on the market. One very...

you stole the words right out of my mouth!

There really is no reason to use a tile saw to cut 2 layers of glass. It takes more time (probably quadruple once you consider the cleaning you have to do after sawing) and you waste glass. Not to mention you don't get as clean a cut. Just score and break!

If I might add...

don't make your glass any larger than the mold, as it can drape down over the outside edge, thereby trapping your mold. Then you have to break either the glass or the mold to free it. Not pretty.

Oh, Jack!

What's your direct shipping address? I'd gladly send you my backlog of neglected tools...they don't eat much and they're very grateful to the hand that fixes them...and I won't even ask for a backpack full of $$ in return... :P

The hardest part of the learning #@$!!* curve

Diagnosis. That's what's so hard - when you know just enough to do something, but not enough to figure out what's going wrong. Today, it's the sandblaster - got all the parts, got all the settings, got no blast, got nobody near enough to call in to take a look.

Learning. Always an adventure. dammit.

how would you stack them?

Do you mean, put a mold on a shelf, your glass on the mold, then put another shelf above the mold (on bricks or whatever) with another mold & glass? That would work if your kiln has fairly even temps, altho there will be some heat differential for the top vs. the bottom shelf, depending on where...

Need a photographer in Mid Atlantic

Thought I had a photographer who's at least done glass beads lined up. Now he decides that large format items are not his thing! I desperately need slides for a couple of early Feb. deadlines. Does anyone have a recommendation? Someone you've used?? *sigh* I would post this at TCR but it seems to be...
