which COE to choose?

Thanks for the reply. Folks at Alpine and fusers at Blue Dolphin Stained Glass looked at the pendants and felt that the Pendants being small defered the problem of incompatibility and thought they would be alright. Did not use the stressometer however. They do have an interesting artical on the Alpi...

Wow thanks for all the information, My husband had asked if the glass would do anything really dangerous if incompatable and I really hadn't heard about anything but cracks. Flying bits of glass, yikes! It was just one strip of spectrum dicroic but I also have nonfusable spectrum that I fused some p...

Thanks for the not so good news, would the stressometer or polorized filters indicate a current and/or future problem?

system 90 96 compatibility

I used a strip of spectrum (DGS14) coe 96 dichroic for some pendants and capped it with bulleye clear coe 90. They came out very nice looking but now I'm concerned about problems in the future. Anyone made this mistake before?

which glue for pendants

I think I read in here that Welders (industrial) had the best results for gluing bails to pendants. So which do I use? Welders or E6000?
Thanks to all you pros for the wealth of information on this board!

Cynthia, It is so kind of you to respond, not only to my question. I've noticed your careful answers before. They are really helpful to someone like me who has spent more time with equines than humans for many years, far away from the art world. Thanks again, (you must type faster than the normal ar...

Thanks for the response, I'll check some local antique stores. There is also a cabinat maker I could ask.
I visited your site, very nice. Are the egyptian ones something that could be cast in a plaster mold? I'm interested in trying that. Beautiful stuff.
Had not considered locking aspect.

artist statement!

I need one too! In my case I won't even be meeting the gallery owner, my artist friends say you seem to sell to people you have met personally. So the statement will be all the owner or buyer will know about me. I have a diverse background, ceramics, painting, stained glass. metal sculpture and now ...

Thanks Jerry, This may be the most economical way to go. I have an assortment of tips for the torch I think its #2 I use for pipe coral repair. Any suggestions on which tip to began the experiment? I'd guess small for stringers and dicro strips. If I were to try something a bit larger does it go str...

WOW thanks everyone for the international opinion! Nix to the Burn-z, I'll get something I won't grow out of. I almost hesitate to ask, but straight from the realm of the uninformed, is there a way to modify our oxygen- acetylene system for use with glass? It waits in the barn hoping I will use it f...

torch question

I bought a tiny jewlery torch, butane, $10 to start working glass stringers. An improvement over awkward mapp gas one we had. It worked fine for awhile but developed a leak. Now I'm trying to decide between a hothead, which seems to to be as awkward as the mapp or a burn-z-matic with 3ft. hose and r...

Very graphic example on the 2nd star. Thanks. I've also wondered about watercolor lusters, tried sharpies in gold and silver after someone said they worked on glass, the silver worked well gold didn't for me.

Thanks to all,
this forum is a wonderful source

Thanks Tony, I did get some nicrome wire and it stays nice as a loop for a chain. Haven't tried it between layers of glass. The silver stain looked like frost on branches thought I might use it that way.

Mine turned redish I was just wondering what color background glass would go well with it. Do you use the borax between layers of glass? I've just heard of it used on the surface. My sterling wire has a light yellow around it, is the fix for that using fine silver? Lyn http://community.webshots.com/...

pendant attachments

I'm dealing with similar problems. I'm trying to incorporate wire hangers into glass. Silver seems to discolor and can't take the heat, I tried covering with felt that seemed to help, maybe I need thicker wire. I may have overfired. I fear moving the wire will crack the glass, the heavy copper holds...
