Re: Bullseye glass lawsuit

Don- I'll be happy to accept any donations of BE fusible glass (not too much yellow, please) on Bullseye's behalf and would gladly let them know of your generosity.
Actually, you could run the purchase through Fused Glass Warehouse in NH and make even more people happy.

Re: Bullseye glass lawsuit

Indeed. What does it cost to bring something like that to court? Half a million? Of course we'd all like to see the full jury circus with underdog BE triumphant (and giving free glass to loyal supporters) but I'm betting that won't happen. This cynic says that DEQ will settle, admitting no wrong, BE...

Re: Mold

Get a bigger kiln.
Buy a smaller mold.
Sand down the edges of the mold with wet/dry sandpaper so it fits in your kiln.

"Another possibility is that I have been combining Bullseye and Wissmach glass - both COE 90."

DON'T.

Re: Dust Collector fittings

Get thee to the hardware store, not HD, where you will find someone who will sell you a flange that you can screw to the canister and adapt to the hose.

Re: extruding glass strands from pot

Those were done individually on a punty (pontil) in a hot shop and then just grouped together for display. There are probably holes in the base for the glass which is most likely glued down.
I'd hate to have to ship that anywhere.

Re: Cutting Very Thick Glass Slabs

3" wide, ok. How about thickness? Are you making a pot melt (or whatever) that's 3" thick (by 3" wide by 6-10" long)?

Re: Cutting Very Thick Glass Slabs

The Result blades may need to be dressed before the first use to remove any plating material covering the outer layer of diamond. Run the blade (wet) through a chunk of brick or silicon carbide sharpening stone; just a couple of cuts should do it. Some people have a fetish about dressing the blades,...

Re: Should I switch to System 96?

1) First of all, while this is all true about Bullseye, I found their representatives to be exceedingly arrogant, rude and obnoxious. A long time ago I decided to make art with 96 rather than put up with unprofessional behavior. Considering the posts for incompatibility/ devitrification/ etc. I hav...

Re: extruding glass strands from pot

I don't read the post as vitrigraph stuff- roykirk seems to me to be talking about having stuff come out of the pot as if the surface of the glass is exploding, like fireworks, no? Lots of problems- first with pulling the pot out to draw glass from it (or lifting a kiln lid to get at the stuff), the...

Vonon- Re rivets- you've got some wiggle room with the silicone but rivet heads can be ground almost flat and still work.

Re: 10" saw blade

Set up a stop, set saw to cut 1.25", cut groove and flip to finish.
I'm finding a lot of drag on the thicker pieces (10" Result blade with 5" stiffeners, plenty of water) otherwise.

Re: Ventilation

Interesting topic. Working alone I position a fan to blow fumes away from me, gently, so as not to cool the soldering iron. With a group that wouldn't work as someone(s) would always be in the firing line. I've been thinking about a range hood exhaust fan dangling over the layout table. That ...
