Re: Silver Sand for Sandmold

It consists almost entirely of quartz (SiO 2 ) Now I know it is...

Re: Curious to know !

@Kevin: Thank you for your answer ! As for the book: Great, but for the few pieces I fire in a year (hobby !) I use the firing schedules from Spectrum. For the first time I did fire a 1 1/2 inch thick piece and did note the wrong things on a piece of paper to set the schedule. Stupid! So, this has h...

Curious to know !

Hello ! Did write wrong the firing-schedule of a 37 1/2 cm (1 1/2 inch) thick piece of Spectrum96 on a note for by the kill. The good Step 4 was afap and hold 3 hrs. Now I did fire with this Step 4: 750 C. (1382 F.) to 510 C. (950 F.) and No hold. The piece was broken ! Stupid mistake of course, but...

Plate of 4 layers

Hello ! Has been asked to make a plate for a wedding. The measurement: about 28 x 28 cm. I have already fired the background of 2 layers and now I must apply the wedding couple ......containing 2 layers.... so total 4 layers. Normally I fire the 3rd and 4th layer with a "contour" fuse, but...

Re: Making your own..... shards

I don't understand the question :?: Brad Walker writes in his book about this ! Making your own "shards". Possible via a drop (and a square is to prefer) and making a square (RVS) with nichrome wire on it. Sorry, my knowledge of the English language is too poor to explain it on the right ...

Making your own..... shards

Hello! I read about this in the Warmglass book and here on this site.
I wonder what is the best method: Drop square, or a square with wire on it (and what is then the best amount between the wires ??) ??

Re: 4 Seasons.... Break

About point 1: I did contact Bert Weiss and he suggested to fire the UV-glued piece to 200-225 C. with a 15 min. hold. Good chance the glass will be seperated !! Thank you very much Bert !! After cleaning and removing rest of the glue I can refire the piece. I will tackfuse this piece with a (fully...
