Tony,
My kiln shelf is clean, smooth. I fired on thin fire.
Only thing I can think of is maybe there was a tiny shard of glass on my work table where I put the piece to clean it.

Thanks Charlie. I wasn't sure refiring would work or not. Will refire tomorrow.

scratch and wet belt sander
I did a "flip and fire" on an 8" x 8" piece. When I took it out of the kiln, I found a scratch that I can feel with my finger nail. I have access to a large wet belt sander with the various grits of belts. Can I use this to buff out the scratch...knowing I need to work the whole ...

Back Magic too thick
I started to spray some Back Magic on a piece but it has gotten a little thick. It won't go through the air brush, which I checked and isn't stopped up.
Is there something....water....or ???? to thin it down.
Thanks,
Vernelle

Pat,
Try drywall screen. Works quickly and lasts forever. When the holes get full.......just thump it.

Enamels on copper
I have a bunch of FuseMaster lead free enamels.....all are in the 5000 group. Can these be used for copper enameling?

Bert,
If I just slump it, will it keep its characteristics and not change like you mentioned?
Thanks,

Saint Just glass
I have a really pretty piece of Saint Just glass that was given to me by a really good friend who passed away. I'd like to make something with it but don't know the COE. Anyone know what clear glass I could use with it?
Thanks,
Vernelle

I agree with Marty in that it is pretty good the way it is. I really like the color combinations and the design....simple but pretty.

Re: Super Spray Streaking
Go to Michael's or a craft store or art store and get a Badger air brush kit. Makes it a lot easier to use and no streaks. Helps to have a 40% off coupon for Michael s too.

Re: Spectrum label "ghost"
I can usually get the label off with just glass cleaner. Occasionally I let the glass cleaner set a soak a little bit and the residue comes off. I have never had to do any of what the people here suggested to get a label off. You cannot feel anything with this "ghost" or shadow. You can ju...

Re: Spectrum label "ghost"
pshash and Cheryl...Thank you for answering but you misunderstood my problem. Glass cleaner took off all the label. There is no glue or label residue. This is more like a stain.

Spectrum label "ghost"
Anyone else seem to have problems getting the faint image of the Spectrum label off the glass? (Its not a residue from the adhesive, I don't think.) I've used glass cleaner and alcohol. Any other suggestions?

Re: Sticky cabochons: shelf paper vs kiln wash again
Try using a piece of shelf paper a little larger than the pieces you are firing but put a "weight" like a kiln post or scrap glass on each corner to hold it down. That way it won't roll up on your pieces.
