Re: removing bottle labels Q?

Generally yes. As long as it was a gummed label. The new pressure sensitive labels are murder no matter what.

Re: removing bottle labels Q?

I fill 5 gallon pails with warm water and some ammonia. As a general rule, that seems to work the best for us without making it into a big production.

Just pointing it out to you for color. That color chart always fall flat to me. I prefer photos. Granted it depends on your monitor, etc.

Re: glass kiln plans

Beau- If you are stuck on the casting idea, go to Craftweb. The hot glass guys talk about casting various furnace parts ( a much more punishing environment than a standard fusing kiln) all the time. Search their archives. There are probably about a bazillion posts on casting things such as furnace c...

Looking for a specific video

I think I found the link here, so that is why I am posting here. A while back, I saw a link to an artist who was "weaving" hollow cane into trees. She was cutting glass tube/hollow canne embedded in plaster. Does anyone have any idea what I am envisioning? If so, could you tell me who the ...

Re: Vitrograph setup

I use cement backer board that they sell at home depot. It is basically some type of cement with what I assume is fiberglass mesh. You ...

Re: boiling glass

And in regard to your first question, "what temperature did you actually fire at?" seems fairly easy to ascertain. Pull the probe back to where it was embedded in the brick and not in the chamber, fire as you did before, and when you are pretty certain you are the max temp, push the probe ...

Re: Wizard Grinder Bearing going

Hi Jeanne- I would shop around for the motor. Depending on the grinder, the motor may cost more than buying a new one (especially if you go to Grainger.) Not sure of which grinder you had, but I saw this on the Central Jersey CL a couple of days ago. Can't tell the model in the photo, but you never ...

Re: Please vote for me. "Artists Wanted" Competition

Thanks, got it.

I didn't want to just start clicking around as I just worry about signing up for stuff that could end up making me crazy on FB.

But anyway all done.

Really cool work! Wish I had your talent.

Hey Carol-

Not to be dense, but I don't see how to vote for you.

What am I doing wrong?
