Re: Sandblasting Pattern Bar Slices
Okay. I'll keep sandblasting them. Better safe than sorry. I guess it's one of those 'it's fine till it's not', sort of thing. I spend way too much time designing, cutting, etc. the pattern bars to have any issues with them when I finally get them into a project. Appreciate the input!

Re: Sandblasting Pattern Bar Slices
Thanks. I've been sandblasting them before using them; wondering if I'm making more work for myself than necessary. Pretty laborious when I have a large PB project, so far all's been fine, just not sure I really need the extra step.

Those were two of the things I was worried about. Not really sure what I'll do with it...Thanks.

2mm Clear 96
A friend getting out of the glass art gave me 20 sheets (!) of 2mm clear 96. I've just worked with 3mm (and thicker). I don't really make jewelry (she used it a lot for that) and was curious if using the 2mm would make a big difference as a cap or second layer in my wall panels, bowls, etc.? Thought...

Re: Sandblasting Question
Actually, they are test pieces. One of them I thought was a lost cause that had been sitting in my studio for a couple years. Finally invested in my own sandblaster 6 months ago and thought I'd try to salvage it...I may just go with the matte finish on the bottom. It does look nice!
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Sandblasting Question
Sorry, I meant 1400. They are flat pieces. Tops and sides look great, but bottoms are still quite matte.

Sandblasting Question
I have just sandblasted two pieces that have pattern bar inclusions, but the basic design is mostly clear glass. The pattern bars picked up kiln wash and needed to be blasted off, so I just sandblasted the entire bottom of the pieces. After some cold work, I fired again to fire polish (around 1300) ...

Re: MR97
Thanks. I've used MR97 for a while and like it much better then Slide, but haven't used it on these older molds, or over Slide before. Appreciate the info!

MR97
I have some older molds that I have used Slide on as a mold release. Do I need to sandblast them before I apply MR97, or can I put MR97 over the Slide? Anyone know?

Sandblaster Foot Pedal
I have a HF sandblasting cabinet with a dust collector and compressor. I just love it, but when I have to work for any serious amount of time, I find that my hand gets pretty tired squeezing the gun.
Does anyone know where I can get a foot pedal? Also, how complicated is it to install?
Thanks!

Re: Boron Nitride after Kiln Wash?
Thanks. I'm gonna blast that KW off and spray them with MR97. I've only used it on SS molds in the past, but I sure think it will be easier on these particular molds! Glad to know it will work. I'll be sure not to use KW on them after the MR97.

Boron Nitride after Kiln Wash?
In several small bowls (ceramic bisque) that I do some production work in, the kiln wash eventually chips, needs to be sandblasted out and re-washed. I was curious if I sandblasted them really well of all kiln wash, could I spray them with MR97 or Slide 1800? It sure would be easier than having them...
