I have a 370 and I used the stew out of it.......but, it is LOUD and it has trouble cutting the bigger, heavier slabs that I work with now. It can do it, but it is much easier on the MK-100 that I have now as well. ANd, the noise reduction from one to the other is uncanny. Get some ear plugs if you ...

Re: How can I control spread?
I have a project that I am working on that needs to be 3" wide. The top, unfired part is only 2 and 1/4" wide and 1/4" thick. So, how much base glass needs to go under it to get it to spread to at least 3" wide? It doesn't matter if it goes over 3" wide, it just needs to be...

Re: Upper/lower temp/range for thermal shock?
I've been working under the (apparently mistaken) assumption that glass was no longer susceptible to thermal shock above about 1,000 degrees. I just re-fired a piece (about 1/2 inch thick, 1.5 x 1 foot, multiple colors, with tack fused elements) with the following, 88-hour schedule, only to find a ...

Don't hold your breath, Chip  After much consideration, I have decided that I am far too white at this time of year to show any more skin than is necessary  Plus, there seem to be more than enough brave naked folks out there sending in shots. The pic that I sent will have to suffice and ...

Nadine, I got a large custom made Scoreboard from the folks that make them and it is great. It accomodates a whole sheet of BE which can be stripped in about 10 minutes using your own cutter. It is just a base board with a set bar at the bottom and a raised perpendicular bar that the glass slides u...

Re: scoreboard
Lisa sounds good but who makes them? Here is the addess for the folks who make them. THey come in a standard size that is fairly small for my purposes, but were happy to make one to my specs. Talk to Mark and tell him Lisa Allen in Memphis referred you. http://www.emeraldrainbow-wedgies.com/scorebo...

I was thinking that it might be a good idea for those of us in the calender to donate something to the costs of making it as well. I haven't a clue how expensive it is, but giving away 24 or more copies to those in it is a good chunk, especially if not enough sell to cover costs. Just a thought. I s...

Re: Wet Belt Sander...CRL GL4W
It is time for me to get serious about getting a large wbs. CRLaurence has the models discussed in the previous threads...the GL4W model (4"x106") at CRL has not been mentioned and looks interesting. I have only used much smaller Covingtons and need some advice. 1. is a built-in roller pl...

Randy, I had some similar problems with my pattern bar pieces mixing transparents and opaques. For Bullseye, the specific annealing point for transparents is 990 and for opaques it is 935. To accomodat both, I started holding at 1000 for an hour to try to get the temp of the glass regulated before I...
