Good job.

Re: HOW DO YOU CLEAN YOUR STAINLESS STEEL MOLD?
Thanks, Marty!
ALL the cacks were in the lavender area - BE 1842..................., no yellow, red or orange.
I still do can not figure out what caused them.
However, I refired the piece and it looks OK, no cracks or anything.

Re: adding a photo
Thanks, Lynn and Brad I tried again. The photo WAS 600 kb, NOW, at 50 kb - the board still refuses to accept it. I get "the extension is too big". I know how to post a photo, I posted on the WGBB, therefore I am more confused that it does not work now. I just gave it another try to no avai...

adding a photo
I am trying to send on my pm a photo which is less than 150 kb, and the computer refuses to post it.
Can you tell why?
It says its too big, but I resized it!
Thanks,
Havi

HOW DO YOU CLEAN YOUR STAINLESS STEEL MOLD?
Dear guys, Sorry for nagging so much about my melts. On the one hand they excite me, very much, OTOH - there are 'growing up ' problems. I noticed , that there was a lot of black debris in the kiln after the would be ' piece' was done . I liked it a lot, but I was wondering where did all this...

Re: MESH MELT
Thanks, Joe for your response, and thanks for your comments Yes, by now I have written down so many ideas concerning how I want to continue, and what I want to experiment with. First and foremost is, to make a piece with a background. The question is what background? again more than one option that ...

Re: MESH MELT
Thanks for 'passing by' and thanks for your responses, La Suisse and Lelslie I will not do anything to this piece. I think that whatever I do here will only ruin the piece. We have a saying in Hebrew "He who adds - deletes" [something like 'more is less' ....... and this is my feeling with...

MESH MELT
Dear everybody, After I have been asking zillion questions, and nagging on how and why, here is my first melt - relatively OK [IMHO] I would love to hear - read your comments. As it is - I do not consider it as a 'piece', but as an option for a central image in a bigger piece. This is generally my i...

Re: Covington Wet Belt Sander
Congrats on your new acquisition.! Hope it will be useful and help you make beautiful staff. I removed my big back plate, and installed a smaller one, which came with the WBS. This way when I want a back plate I have one, but I also work without it [upper than the back plate, about 4" tall] Havi

Re: WHY did they break?
Thanks, Cynthia, you made my day. And a BIG thank you Les, I love the way you make your colorbars, and the way you use them in your pieces. However it is not my intention. At this time I prefer doing mesh melts and glass boiling. Perhaps at a later stage I'll have the patience to make color bars the...

Re: WHY did they break?
I don't like using thinfire under hot, moving glass. By the time the glass is flowing the thinfire has burned out and softened and can get pushed around. Occasionally it's gotten trapped in the moving glass.[/quote] So what do you use, Cynthia? 3 m'm fiber paper ? OR ? I am thinking of using maybe f...

Re: WHY did they break?
Les, This is a legitimate question. I do not have enough experience with this. Some mesh melt'ers go only as high as 871 Centigrade, which is 1599 F. [which is lower than what I did] Is there any temprature that you would suggest, Les? I consider trying it, but have not yet tried. Needs to be checkd...

Re: WHY did they break?
Interesting..................... So, how would I treat the [would be] bottom of the piece? Thin fire under the glass, AND underneath it fiber paper 1/8" ??? In any case it will not be the primed shelf but something more reliable than that I do not think ANYBODY here ever tried to work with such...

Re: WHY did they break?
Many thanks for your illuminating remarks. I accept them, almost completely. This indicates to me - that it is right what they say that one should kilwash million times EVERYTHING that touches the glass at this temp. of 1700. That, I did not do. I used dams that were previously kilnfwashed.... and n...
