Starfish

After dealing with thermal shock because my kiln depth is so short I finally managed to make something without it cracking in the drape mold. :D

Re: Working With Silver Foil?

Check out Richard La Londe's glass fusing book. He has quite a few projects in it using silver foil.

Richard La Londe Master Class

I just got back from Richard's class and wanted to share some photos. The first two days we did the multilayer technique. Then we went to Rob Adamson's studio to do the rollout and pumpkins. We made the stainless steel molds for the roll outs and alum backing for the multilayer panel. All of the wor...

Re: Freeze and Fuse firing cycle

I always tap the mold to remove excess water and bubbles and blot with a paper towel until the frit feels firm in the mold. I only use distilled or boiled water otherwise i get devit and I do have a water softener. I usually freeze mine overnight to make sure they are competely frozen.

Re: One Spark Glass Quilt

So my quilt has been traveling and so decided to make a stand for it out of galvanized pipe. A lot of places don't want me putting holes in their walls. You will notice the tortoise tile looks a little different from the original one. Stupidly, I put the stand together in the same room as the quilt ...

My favs are the Roseate Spoonbill and Pileated woodpecker. It was a lot of fun but hard work for five days. I just hope next year I'll be able to see more creations.

Re: One Spark Glass Quilt

One Spark was a huge success with over 150,000 visitors. I had a great time and met some very interesting creators. Everyone loved my quilt so I was pretty happy since it was the first time I showed my work in public. I am hopeful it will be displayed at the airport in conjunction with info about ou...

Re: Liability and insurance

My homeowners won't do a rider. If I use another company they want to appraise it etc. To me, it is not worth the hassle or expense. If I get enough votes or indiv contributions from the event, I will just make another one I guess. My cousin is helping with the installation so, hopefully, there will...

Re: Liability and insurance

Thanks for your help. I am hearing from other artists that they carry no insu coverage either b/c it's too expensive. I will just hope that nothing gets damaged.

Liability and insurance

My artwork will be exhibited in a festival for 5 days in April and I am having a hard time getting insu just for the event. The main insu I need is to cover the piece if it's broken or damaged. My homeowners insu won't cover it once it leaves my house. I do this as a hobby and don't carry any busine...

Re: One Spark Glass Quilt

I have added two more pictures to my web album and the last tile is in the kiln. I am hoping to have the mounting done by the end of the month. I really would appreciate any comments. I hope to have time to relax before the big festival. https://picasaweb.google.com/roobagel/GlassQuiltPictures#

One Spark Glass Quilt

I am officially a creator for One Spark in Jacksonville, Florida. I am doing this quilt to educate the public in conservation of our wildlife and abundant natural habitats of NE Florida. I hope to have it completed by mid March. I just got back from Oklahoma and found two more areas in town that are...

Re: Richard La Londe Rattle Workshop

Yes, the base is steel which we cut with this old as in 1960s horizontal band saw. Then we painted them black and put the screw in the base. We had to make each part of the rattle incl cutting the aluminum. Like I said, this is a first for me with all the tools. I thought all of them turned out beau...
