Re: Expandable drums
Bob,
Kingsley North sells expanable drums for $60-$100.00 , I must be missing something because $7500 sounds crazy. Even a fully decked out machine will be around $1000

this is the saw they have on the HF site, it's the one I was referencing, it's not the typical HF saw like I have.

Re: Testing Protocol For Stained Glass
It's not all that cut and dry. Just because Glass A is compatible with glass B and glass B is compatible with glass C doesn't necessarily mean that A and C are compatible. COE is just one variable to making them compatible. There are others equally as important, hence the reason Bullseye doesn't cal...

Re: Cheap saw/good blade?
It's a bit hard to tell from just the pictures, but that looks like a fairly decent saw to me. The only thing that gives me pause is the motor being attached directly to the shaft. Most of the 10" saws have the motor to the back and a belt driving the blade shaft. This is however how they do it...

Re: Texture into glass
I agree with what you are saying but look at the edges, it's not a perfect circle either. Nor does it look even in thickness. I agree it would be much easier to make something similar and likely nicer with float, some powder and an beat up edge. The answer to the original question is.... we don't ha...

Re: Texture into glass
That looks like float glass, but definitely has chill marks like poured hot cast glass, like Brock said.
I don't think it's kiln formed at all.
You could however make some similar in the fashion that Bert suggested, you won't however get the rings (chill marks) that may or may not be a good thing.

Re: Denver Kiln?
If you are going to replace the controller go with SSR relays they are much better to use (imo). Mercury relays are illegal in California anyway. a 1/4 din controller is a small usually 4 button controller likely not what you want to use to program a kiln. (it is however what I use) Rewiring the kil...

Good point, yes I agree that you'd be limited on the width you could cut. This is what you really need. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Red-Band-MB150-Bridge-Saw-14-350mm-415V-/01/!Brg2t5w!2k~$(KGrHqYH-CYEvEyP!!jvBLz+7optcg~~_35.JPG http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Red-Band-MB150-Bridge-Saw-14-350mm-415V-/200464104...

I cannot see how the smaller size should pose a problem that the larger didn't. Are you sure the relay was the problem and that it is now in fact fixed? Have you fired anything else since the "fix"

You are more than welcome to do any required cutting here if that helps. Make all the noise and mess you'd like. Anna was asking me my opinions regarding saws, she was going to come by and see my saw and set-up. Good luck with the class.

Les, patience and I aren't all that familiar with each other  . Aren't you coming to Calgary here right away to teach a class? You are welcome to bring your blades here and try them out on my saw. The kilns are "Warmglass.com forum" brand in other words I built them myself with knowl...

So I've moved my studio from my home into a commercial space, which is great. The only problem is that all of my schedules are shot because I have three phase power and now my kilns can't fire as fast as they used to. I only have 208V at the elements not the typical household 220/240 I wouldn't have...

It says someone has "flagged it as inappropriate" and need to verify age, why did someone cast a nude torso and upset a prude?

Re: 3D printing with glass powder
So I guess that if someone was able to reproduce an exact copy of a famous painting then it's just as worthy as the original? You cannot compare movies or music to an object you can hold in your hand they are completely different. They are both "ART" but different. As for a print NO a prin...
