Stacy, Very nice. Love the colors and I'm a fool for geometric patterns. Now that you have jumped in with a PAID commision, the world is your oyster. Ideas for new projects just pop up from everywhere. Sooo much fun. Only wish I had the bucks to buy all the glass I need to accomplish all my projects...

ceramic kiln
Diane, I have a ceramic kiln with a kiln sitter/cone apparatus and here is how I operate it. I got a computer controller from Marty at the Center DeVerre, one of the board sponsors, and that bypasses the cone. I work full time and only have weekends to do everything, like so many of us, and didn't h...

fire wall
Hi. I very seldom have anything to add to the board discussions but I do have a different approach to insulating the wall around your kiln. I went to a welding supply store and they sold me a welding blanket that tolerates temps up to 1000 degrees F. It is 4' X 8'. I drape it on the two cornor walls...

screens
I just checked Thompson's sight for mesh screens and noticed they began at 60 mesh. How does that relate in terms of BE frit sizes? I have made some frit with my handy dandy frit maker, compliments of the ever so kind boad members who shared how to make one, and it came out in all sizes. Now I need ...

Casting
Ellen, Wonderful. I was at an upscale glass retail store and saw a Daum small(about 4") cast bowl that I drooled over and I think your piece is every bit as beautiful and well cast as that piece. Show us more when you can. Ann Demko

Oh My!!!!
Having been an addict for about two years now, I am still relatively new to this field. I find myself thinking of new ideas and then I worry as to whether the color combination, shape, subject matter was something I may have seen somewhere else. I ask myself "should I proceed? Should I research...

Joseph's coat
Jackie, I am overwhelmed at the beauty of this piece. It is soooo wonderful. I was also touched by the refernce to your father. I too think of my parents and am particularly proud of pieces I think they would have enjoyed. We are fortunate to have had parents that were supportive. AnnD

frame
FANTASTIC. So beautiful and serene. Beauty in simplicity. I ditto the remark about the frame. I think it would stand alone or if you prefer the framed look maybe one that is not so wide. IMO it draws the focus from the piece somewhat. It really is hard to tell not having the piece in front of me but...

packaging
Well this is such a base question, but I want to get your all's opinions. How do you send off your bowls, other works of art with stands, and flat disks at outdoor arts and craft shows? My bowls can be up to 15" and I recently had a 9"art disk with one of Dick Kolpacks great stands leave m...

Barbara, There was a fantastic exhibit in Louisville called The Light Within that featured all kinds of glass. It was a co ordinated effort of four galleries and museums and it was not to be believed. There is still the Chaholy( having a mental block on spelling) exhibit at glassworks till the end o...

Hxtal ?
Is hxtal glue a uv glue? I was talking to a glass artist about trying to afix bevels to clear with uv glue and not bing successsful because of all the tiny bubbles trapped. I tried around the edges and got ugly results, tried just at the cornors but worried about dust seeping between the glasses and...

glass craftsman
What a day maker. When I got home from work I was thrilled to see my latest copy of Glass Craftsman on the kitchen table. After puttering around, picked up my copy to see what was happening and was bowled over. So much warm glass all in one issue. Not only that, but the excellent articles and pictur...

FABRIC FIRING?
Just viewed the rest of Patty Grays pics and have a question on the fabric firing. Does one just take the piece to tack fuse in order to not lose the texture of all those cute litle stringers? Then can you slump the piece and it would stay altogether? Ann Demko
