Re: Thermocouple

Can it be a problem with the Bartlett RTC 1000 Controller/Kiln Sitter? Like the circuit board not working anymore? Kiln is now at 800 and it does not seem to be ramping up at 350 dph. Slowing down at the same point. What would cause the ramp speed to go slow. Re cap- Brand new lid with elements inst...

Re: Thermocouple

Thanks Tony, of course as I said in my post, all elements do light up beautifully and even, they are brand new. The relay swith was replaced yesterday. If you look up Thermocouples, they do in fact wear out. I spoke to two Kiln Repair Technicians this morning and they believe that I have a TC that i...

Re: Thermocouple

Thank you Stephen. I have been in constant contact with Olympic. They are the ones that have been guiding me, if you want to call it that. I'm so frustrated with the indirect guidance I have been getting. All that I get are in conclusive answers. Maybe it is this and maybe it is something else. This...

Re: Olympic Kiln Repair Question

I was told yesterday, by Olympic, to use a Linemens Plier to crimp those things. They are tough. My husband broke two crimping tools. Olympic uses Pnumatic Crimping Machine. Lol, cheaters

Re: Advice on buying a new 120V kiln :(

Did you ever get this resolved. I have experienced the same, have come seriously close to ordering a new kiln. Tomorrow I am replacing the thermocouple. I have replace the lid elements, all bright red when on, lots of clicking with the new relay. I'm shutting down at 880. I get an Error 1. I'm going...

Thermocouple

I have a Olympic 186GFELTC kiln with a Bartlett 1000 controller. I just replaced the lid and elements, had Olympic put the elements in the lid for me. Hooked it up and it heated to 880 degrees, slowly I might add. Then it posted an e-1. The Elements heated up fin, so not the new elements. So we repl...

Re: Textured Molds by Creative Paradise

Success. Drilled 5 small holes in the mold and only heated to 1425. Used System 96. Two layers and did not fuse together first. I used 1" kiln furniture to prop the textured mold up off the floor. Fused at approx 275 dph There are tiny little bubbles in between the leaves and branches but they ...

Re: Textured Molds by Creative Paradise

Well according to Bullseye tutorials they highly suggested that strip technique. I have never used bullseye myself, always been a Spectrum 96 fuser. But feeling a bit desperate I looked everywhere for suggestions. I have now lost to 12" Tree of Life pieces due to large bubbles. I have not ever ...

Re: Textured Molds by Creative Paradise

What do you think about cutting the bottom layer into strips, say 3" strips, then laying them onto the mold with zero space between and then placing the top colored transparent piece on to and firing.... The suggested schedule from Creative Paradise and Delphi is as follows 300 dph to 1250 hold...

Textured Molds by Creative Paradise

Has anyone tried the new Creative Paradise Textured Molds? I have and have a bit of frustration...My first two attempts are so perfect. They both sold the first day at my Co Op Gallery. They are gorgeous! I used the 9 x 5" Baroque Floral mold first. I used their suggested fusing and slumping sc...

Re: Dang bubbles

RachelM, really funny you should mention the glass. I have been fusing for 8 years, always have used Spectrum System 96, that is what I learned on. I have had the same Kiln and used the same schedules for the same sizes and shapes. Suddenly I am getting these bubble?!?!?! Small and larger pieces. It...

Re: Dang bubbles

I tried to post a picture but too big to upload, The glass is perfect and smooth but there are very small bumps, like it has pimples or boils. They are not even but there are many. I seems to happen on the streaky glass or the opals, not on solids. This is new. I have worked many times with both of ...

Re: Dang bubbles

Standard two pieces of 96coe glass fused together.
Kiln Shelf is a Kaiser Lee Board lined with fresh thin fire paper

I have never had devit, except for when my thermocoupler was sticking inside the kiln wall around 4 inches. But otherwise never.

Re: Cold working then fusing

What is the schedule to "fire polish" is it just 300 dph to 1350 and then hold for 10 and then what? Does it need to cool to aneal. I honestly in 7 years have never had a piece go womperjomp on me and have not had to cold work to fix something. I really like this piece so want to do what I...

Cold working then fusing

I have a 12" square piece that came out a little funky on the edges, although there are times when this is cool and desirable, I want it to be square. I am going to do some cold working with the Taurus and a little grinding. My question is do I start over and re fire and then slump or do I just...
