I have some of it--running out of the Hotline. I'll let you know if it's different. Maybe it's the sprayer?

Nope--I don't do a thing. I've been using Hotline's kiln wash and haven't tried anyone elses' but I only scoop the powder into a container, add the proper amount of water, and then shake vigorously (lid on!). I pour this "soup" into the sprayer and have at it. Each time I spray I shake it ...

I use a spray bottle. Takes seconds and works well. Be sure to shake well before each layer.

Cutting pendant shapes?

I've seen some beautiful dichroic glass pendants, and I'm trying to figure out how they are made. They are obviously layered, somewhat at random, and then cut into shapes with a channel for a chain or cord. I know how to make the channel, but I haven't been able to figure out how to make nice shapes...

Water jet shapes?

I was recently in a stained glass store in Florida, where they had some gorgeous water jet cut butterflies cut from dichroic glass, and then fused. The shop owner said she'd picked them up at a glass convention. Anyone know a wholesale source?

Tom, and others, I haven't started drilling holes with my new Dremel press, but how about this technique--dish of water, cushioned by sheet packing material (don't know what this kind is called but it's white), and water from an IV drip or 60cc syringe dripped steadily on the hole? I know that in th...

Pre Cut Circles?

Does anyone sell 90 or 96 COE circles in small diameters--say 1" to 2" or so? I'd like to buy a number of them in either clear or colored glass.

Vidrio, I was assuming you wanted to make a channel parallel to the base of the glass. Perhaps this is not so. If it is, you described the process exactly. The important parts are to position the skewer/mandrel so that it won't roll as the glass melts (that's why I sometimes use extra pieces as desc...

I've had good success making holes with either of two methods. The first is a bamboo skewer (like you use for the BBQ), coated with bead release. The wood burns out entirely, leaving only the tunnel of bead release. I use Fusion. The other method is similar--I buy stainless steel mandrels like bead ...

Shaped dropouts?

So, okay, I admit it probably wasn't the best idea...but I had a star shaped bisque piece that I thought would make a nice drop ring. I have loads of experience with these things...not!...but it seemed like a good idea at the time. The glass got hot, and thinned in the center--enough to drip a small...

Thanks for the link--it's working now. I love the bracelet shape, but can't tell enough about the design or glass. I have her formers and the video.

Quick refresher, though--what kind of paper does she call for when lining the mold?

Speaking of the Cutter's Mate, I read somewhere (wish I could remember where) that they are coming out with a strip cutter. Anyone else hear about this, or have any details? I do a lot of strip cutting, especially on textured dichro, and need something that does a good job with tiny strips--1/4"...

Okay, phase 2. I sanded the floral former and fired to about 1200. Then I tried spraying again. I had more success this time--no blank spots--but the coating still seems thin to me.

Also, how many coats is "enough" for draping over this shape? Do you heat between coats?

Stainless Mold Prep?

Okay, tell me what I'm doing wrong. I've got a new stainless floral former, and wanted to put kiln wash on it. As I understand it, the drill is to heat it to 500 degrees and then spray on the kiln wash. Doesn't look like I expected it to, so I'm wondering what went wrong. I'm using Hotline kiln wash...
