I definitely would go for a silicon adhesive. My plastics guy has used silicone in the construction of signs. Somewhere in Maryland is a hospital sign outside, that he made 25 years ago, all glued up with GE brand clear silicone that has never needed any repair despite its exposure to sun, cold, win...

Sarah, you might want to look into one of the small tabletop kilns that run on houshold current as a solution. I used a paragon Quickfire for a year and a half before getting my bigger kiln up and running. It was a great way for me to begin to learn about how glass works. And it wasn't a huge invest...

Kelly you are too smart for words. I'm betting on ammonia. Try using dishsoap and after rinsing if it isn't squeaky enough for you, some rubbing alcohol. Ammonia no, alcohol yes. Also just FYI, I think it is the lead in the Spray A that causes that reaction. In general I find that the best solution ...

Hey there Kelly - Don't put Spray A on French Vanilla unless you want mustard yucky yellow. I learned that one the hard way. Its a reaction you want to avoid. Hmnnnn, to me its a luscious aged parchment look.... But yeah it won't be french vanilla anymore. Jackie, were you able to blast it ...

Amy you need to spend a little time with my family. I did the carpal tunnel thing five years ago. Truly a workplace injury caused by them being too slow to fix something broken. Right now my mother has shoulder issues caused by laying mulch in her yard by herself, and leaves PT in tears 3 times a we...

Re: PMC for Glass Fusing Jewelry
Terry: I've heard two stories about using PMC in a kiln. One is true and the other is apparently a myth. It's true there can be some discoloration between PMC and certain colored glasses. That's a fact and should you decide to get into PMC -I'm sure there's plenty of information on which colored gl...

..... Probably a result of spending the day in my studio tying many, many, many little knots (don't ask). Amy I am becoming convinced that if you weren't trying to get a repetitive motion injury, you wouldn't feel whole! Well, okay, I exaggerate a little. But seriously, you do do a lot of th...

Oh alright. Saturday was pretty amazing as I received notification from Pilchuck that I was accepted into Klaus Moje's class in July and August. I don't think that it has really sunk in yet. My head is spinning. I know from what you and Avery have told me that it will be a wonderful experience. Thi...

Someone I know recently bought a BE shelf and had it cut into an Octagon to fit a kiln with the same dimensions as yours. A round shelf is probably what you have. You can cut an octagon from the square shelves BE is selling and make it fit. Eventually they will (I hope) be selling round shelves as w...
