Slip casting

I was trying to make some open face ceramic molds I. could reuse. I had a company make some but they only use plaster, I was wondering if you could use ceramic slip same techniques as you do for plaster silica mix? or does it not dry if too thick.

bottom heat kiln.

I ordred a kiln that has a heating element on the sides and the bottom. I assume I need a thick shelve on kiln posts above it so shelf won't crack and airflow

anyone have experience with bottom heat

I can easily find mica flakes, but after reading what Bert was saying, they need to. be treated? these commercial products look nice that he sells. is it really better to buy the products or is it easy enough to get good results diy

issue isn't money. issue is my location. There aren't any commercially made wet saws other than industrial sizes. of it was as easy as spemd 300 or 500 dollars and have a good saw, I would.

I have diamond bladed circular saw, but was thinking about trying to make a water Resevoir. to cut pattern bars Nd things it's out of my budget to buy a tile saw. any one make a diy tile saw

copper inclusion

I wanted to add this thin copper 2mm thick twisted copper. into a 5inch diameter glass orb. would the metal cause breakage because too thick. leaf or foil wouldn't give the effect I was looking for.

is there a formula for dimension of metal inclusion vs thickness of glass object?

do you get better results on a kiln shelf or kiln paper? making frit balls and frit lace do they bead better on kiln shelf? I could experiment but thought I'd ask first

Instead of casting a complete round piece. i thought if I made a mold that was half round and glued 2 pieces together would the seem be visible? any glues that have better result? the epoxy resin I get here has an odor for about a month

I'm. not sure if I should send it back. no programmable controller. the interior has rust on the welds and adds debris eveytime open and close, they used spray paint on.the interior to cover the rust. I'm not sure how much effort I.need to do to fix it or just refund and Try to get another manufactu...
