Right it does happen with Uroboros and it happens on the spectrum I irridize with stannous chloride. So its not a lot problem or specific to any one manufacturer. Also as MK said it does happen regardless of the release you use. My theory is that it doesn't have anything to do with a reaction with ...

One to fuse it flat and a second at a lower temperature to get the metallic surface. Is that right? Mary Kay Hi Mary Kay... I'll look thru my log for info (I think I still was "logging" on scraps of paper...we'll see.), but as I recall i simply fused & slumped. I think I got the metal...

Fave Fiber?

Hi, all.. We all talk about fiber & fiberboard all the time. How generic of us. "So," she quipped, "what's your fave fiber & fave fiberboard?" And, hey,
pour quoi, as well?

Pollingly yours,

Hi Mary Kay... Here's one I did a couple years ago before I had my own kiln... I was still hot on the squares following my initial B.E. class with Christy. It's fun to play with this effect. let me know if you have questions...

Nope--I don't do a thing. I've been using Hotline's kiln wash and haven't tried anyone elses' but I only scoop the powder into a container, add the proper amount of water, and then shake vigorously (lid on!). I pour this "soup" into the sprayer and have at it. Each time I spray I shake it...

Doesn't the nozzle clog? Or, do you grind up the particles before you dilute your wash?
Thanks, BB

Hi Rodney, My rigidizer doesn't burn my cute stubby li'l fingers, though I'm sure it's less healthy than dipping my hands in olive oil. I've been home sick for 11 days (yes, I've started counting!). I'll check out the name of the stuff when I go back to the studio, hopefully later today for at least...

How about using thick fiber paper or blanket? Burn it out first, soak w/ rigidizer, press in the hand. Dry in kiln (cracked to let the steam escape) at 200F or so. Then take it up to 400 or 500 (I forget...someone help?) Kiln wash if you want to. Then place your glass on the mold & slump, or fil...

I never heard of flipping over the piece from fuse to slump..... Is that to get rid of the texture on the bottom from the fiber paper....? But I usually only slump to 1200 degrees which is not fire polish temps.... I am confused. Barbara Hi Barbara... Yeah... that's one reason. Or, if you fuse &quo...

Steve..
According to christy @ B.E., I'd have had a routine slump/fuse if I'd used kilnwash or thinfire. If I wanted to get rid of the "pimples" of devit, I'd blast it & then put it back in the wok.
