Re: Tile saw question
Just an update: I purchased the QEP Brutus 1.5hp (3450rpm) tile saw and am very happy with it. I finally got it outside today (its been too cold to work outside!) and checked it out. After cutting 1/4" strips of tile and doing other things to ensure accuracy, I successfully cut a 1/4" thic...

Re: Car wax and glass rags
Thanks everyone! I'm not going to chance it and will toss them. It's time for me to get rid of some of my old t-shirts and I'll keep an eye out for those good diapers!
(I'm trying a borax mix on the pieces to see if I can salvage them.)

Car wax and glass rags
By mistake some car wax polishing cloths were included in the laundry load of glass rags that I did recently. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now I've seen some devit on pieces and I'm using the same glass, the same kilns and all I can think is that the rags are "contaminated...

Tile saw question
I've searched the archives but didn't find an answer to my particular question. I recently sold my small tile saw (an mk470 1/2 hp) because it was too small for what I'm currently doing. In searching the archives I see that the QEP saws are recommended by a number of people and in researching them I...

Re: Cheap saw/good blade?
I look forward to hearing your review on this saw as I'm looking for one myself (don't let anyone tell you a 1/2 hp saw will be fine!).

Re: New kiln - questions
Thank you, Cynthia. I'll pick up some long firebrick, make a plug for the window, and contact the manufacturer.
Thanks, Don. I have some gloves, but I bet the welders gloves would be a great additional option.
Much appreciated!

New kiln - questions
I am not new to fusing, but these are newbie questions. I just purchased a new kiln, which I assumed had a peep hole, but it came with a 2 or 2.5 diameter window (lucky me). It also doesn't have a way of propping the lid to vent when needed. A few questions: I needed to prop the lid to vent because ...
