Re: Kokomo for fusing?
Thanks Brad! I figured it was that way too but had a few people correct me; should've stuck with my gut  Still, since its been four years since we've seen a price increase, I'm actually fine with paying more, since I appreciate the testing and quality product Bullseye provides. As for a 12.5% ...

Re: Kokomo for fusing?
Bullseye hasn't raised their prices in four years, so even without the current situation of needing to increase revenue, they were due. As for a 12.5% increase, I suspect most of us are buying at the wholesale level, so that's really only a 6.25% increase. For my money, Bullseye is (and will continu...

Chris, don't be too quick to dismiss Marty and Kevin's advice; you're getting attention from some of the best out there (for free!). I've been fusing for 16 years; I've got five kilns and do this full time. Patience was never my strong suit; in the beginning I thought most schedules seemed ridiculou...

I'd probably focus on inclusions, kiln carving, micas or enamels, or creating/working with parts sheets, and perhaps display methods.

You've got accessory glass placed between your two layers, right? That's a recipe called a Bubble Sandwich. Place your confetti on top instead.

Re: Bullseye Being Investigated by Oregon DEQ
Of course Uro is jumping on this, sending out an email touting how safe their glass is. I have no doubt Bullseye will take any necessary steps to comply even more.

Re: kiln side elements not working
For a lack of power to one set of elements, I'd always replace relays first, since they're easy. I had an extremely severe meltdown once, where the elements sagged out of the lid and were embedded in melted glass on the shelf. I cleaned them up, got them back into their groves, and continued to use ...

Re: Boiling Glass?
I think it's important to note that the instructions posted above say to anneal Bullseye at 950°, which at that thickness (four layers) is incorrect. Bullseye lowered their annealing recommendation to 900° for thicker pieces. The one-hour anneal is also far too short for a four layer piece.

Re: "Dumbing down" of glass art?
Welcome back, Emily! I've seen those types of posts too; 'how did you do it?' is often the first thing they ask. I've left groups since I tend to be 'too controversial'; I've actually received hate messages because I've preached that people need to play, test, experiment, keep good notes, and seek o...

I don't like chads; I've never used them without being able to see them. If you build your design so you can cut off the edges, that's an option.
But many people use a fine layer of powder between layers for bubble control:

Re: Thermal shock problem, first time in 12 years, pics
The steel cools at a different rate than your glass, which is why they should be lined with fiber. Is the area that appears clear actually white glass? While I don't use Spectrum glass, I know that repeated, super-high firings to a few of Bullseye's whites (and a couple other colors) can cause them ...
