I agree wholeheartedly with Dana.
The problem is that the edge is not ground well enough. We grind at 600 grit on the last pass. Works like a charm! We do wash thoroughly before the firing.
We also swipe it with a Boron devit agent (dirt cheap).

Re: Photo fusing paper
If you are talking about the decal paper, it burns away during fusing.
If you have mica on top of the clear area, the mica will stay in place( actually it moves some as the paper burns). It will not be removed, nor will the glass be protected.

On the second one, the execution is stunning. But even better is the thought that went into the depiction of the light.

Re: newbie to glass jewelry
I have a tutorial on my site (see below) with schedules only for jewelry. In the last 8 years I have not fused anything over 4x4. Jewelry (small piece) fusing is a totally different world from large piece fusing. Small pieces are far more forgiving. Example: my fusing schedule for a piece with a str...

Re: Using Photo Fusing Paper for the first time
I have used several of the low end HP printers (with secondary market toner and cartridges). All worked fine. If someone can find a decent list of printers that use iron, I would love to have a copy. I have taught courses with decals in them for years and always tell my students "all HP printer...

Re: CMYK color separation
Several comments on screen printing. First, to simplify what was said before, screen printing is an additive process. Unless you are using transparent colors (with which I have no experience), you cannot create multiple colors by separating and then combining. However, here is a trick that we use a ...

Re: dichroic glass having flecks come off in firing
The people at Profusion are quite knowledgable about dichroic glass. In this case however, I think their suggestion is overly cautious. We bubble squeeze dichroic (up) all the time with no ill effects. On very very rare occasion we have had the flecking problem. If you could not bubble squeeze, you ...

New Glass Clay pieces
We have been working a lot lately with glass clay. The material is delightful to work with. We have developed a way to color the clay in just about any color. The results of integrating it with other glass has been especially gratifying. Here are some of the results of utilizing glass clay with (Wis...

Re: Glassline Black
Most high fire Black enamels mature about 1400 degrees when heated up rapidly (as I do) . They start to mature lower but go to glass about there. The way around that is to fire somewhat longer. Slowing down your ramp in the final stage can also help. Our larger kilns mature around 1350 since they he...

Yep, E-6000 is a (within reason) never fail adhesive if used properly. In addition it is cheap and easy to use (correctly).

Re: Dichroic Extract
I've done something similar with solid color dichro slide. I put the slide on a piece of glass and fire to 1000 for about 10 minutes. Cool it to room temperature and what remains on the glass is the dichroic coating in dust form. I had problems with application in that the material is very small (th...

I have a tutorial on my site that builds glass Bails. Basically you can use tile pieces bought at any home improvement store to create a line of bails then cut them apart. Then fuse them on to any pendant.
