Thanks for all of your help! It wasn't refired. That is the original fire. I did cap it with clear. The clear is BE compatible. the light blue is Uroboros that was not listed as compatible, but I did a test strip and it turned out okay. The streaky blue was an unknown glass that I had and again tes...

Dani, Can you give me the number or email address? That is WAY cheaper than I can find it anywhere, and it's even less expensive than I can do it at home!!! (You owe my daughter now though!!) If I'm reading you right, we are looking at $1050 for 125, or about $8.40 in cost. So if we sold them for $...

when I tried re-fusing the pitted irid face up, was still holey and crumbly. Smush the glass and a gazillion holes appear. All that stands between you and the sponge holes is the irid coat. And I have gotten pits also on the green to purple end of the rainbow of an iridized purple. At the time I fig...

Becca, they are positively psychadelic! Sell them to old hippies and hippie wannabes! I love them. No idea on price. Think about how much time and work went into them when you are figuring the price. Those are labor intensive pendants.

What I often do with the "blumps" is flip the piece over and fire top down (I also do that to prevent them happening). Of course I usually end up blasting the surface that has been down to clean it up. and then I flip and fire again, or go straight to slump. This might not work for you bec...

Hi Jon!

You will want to ramp up to 1000 slowly, particularly if there is a lot of color contrast in your piece, or a lot of frit on top. Otherwise you are likely to get a thermal shock on your way up.

Bethany, Glass and clay expand and contract differently. When you are done firing, the clay will have contracted more than the glass. That will set up some stress in the glass and you will have to break your clay form to get the glass out. No guarantees on whether or not the glass will break as well...

I have been thinking about similar constructions. If the base were thicker I imagine that sandblasting a channel in the base before glueing it in might help the cold connection.

Just out of curiosity, what brand glue stick did you use? I've got about 4 different kinds around here. Some with disappearing colorant and some plain. Terry that sounds a bit like what happened to me this summer. All of a suddent he schedule I had been using forever with some of my glass wasn't working. I say schedule because I looked at everything else. It has to do with the dark glass absorbing the heat faster than the light glass. Anyway, I was...

I have a Paragon GL 24 also and have been thinking about firing multiple shelves. Isn't there a way to shut off the top heat and just fire the side elements? Wouldn't that reduce the problem of the top shelf firing faster? Perhaps but you would have to slow down your schedule so much to avoid bubbl...
