I agree with Dee. Which dichroic are you using? CBS doesn't do what you described.

I'm not sure about the size. (The catalog is at work.) But Aftosa had what you are asking about (I think). They were for ceramic drawer pulls. You might check their web site under new products.

You apply the decals according to the directions on the back of the package. You put them on the glass, let it dry, then fire. Usually there is a suggested firing range printed, esp. if it is a metallic decal.

Paul has a website. You might go there for contact info if he doesn't answer soon. http://www.izm.com My boss gives a two day private fusing class in Fort Worth. You use the big kiln to fuse a large piece and slump the next day. While the big kiln is "cookiing" you then use the smaller kil...

A drop ring is a mold that, if you put in on kiln posts, the glass "drops through" the center part. The height of the kiln posts determine how far the glass drops. The photo below (can't believe I got the image thingy to work) shows the mold and a plate I did without the posts. http://www....

Any candle will do. I find that the tea candles work better. You have to hold the stringer in the flame for about 4-5 seconds, apply gentle pressure and the stringer will bend. I've also bent noodles. Sometimes using the pointy tweezers help in bending shapes. You do get soot but it does burn off. I...

How small are your kilns? How has the class be advertized.....just "glass fusion"? If your kilns are like the Hot Box or QuikFire, they could only do a 3/4" project. If you want them to do a little larger piece, you may have state up front that they will have to pick up their projects...

We use 3 of the Quik Fire 6 kilns at the shop where I teach fusing. (I also have one at home.) We noticed that one of the shop kilns was firing differently than the others........my boss took the Paragon kiln maintenace class and adjusted the pyrometer where it read more correctly. You might contact...

I've been experimenting with the different materials for making molds. Haven't found one yet that is permanent but then I haven't tried them all yet. You might want to look into taking some classes. There are some "experts" who teach classes that give a variety of mold making techniques. T...

I had seen Jim Wolverton's bowl but didn't have the nerve to do it in stringers. So I did a variation in 1/4" strips of glass. Did it on a drop ring mold without posts. Did two for Christmas presents. Now I think I have the patience to try one in stringers. :D http://pic2.picturetrail.com/VOL29...

I agree with Tony.......get Brad's book and take some classes. We offer two types of classes at the shop where I teach. One is a jewelry class. The other is an intense 2 day class where they do a large plate in the large kiln and while it is "cooking", do some "creating" in the s...

Ruth,
I get between $4-$15. The little stockings are $4. The trees with dichroic are between $8-15, depending on size. I could probably get a little more if I were in Dallas instead of Fort Worth :D

Paragon has some that are 17" that run on 120v.
The new Hot Start by Skutt is a good kiln also but is only 13".
